What is purpose of Mannlicher stock on hunting rifle?

I have always liked the looks of these rifles.

But, for those with scopes on your rifles here, I have a question. Are the low mounts best? I really like the low Bavarian stock, but it seems it would be best suited with iron sights.

My eyes are not what they used to be and I'd rather use a scope.

IMO, which is often wrong, they decrease accuracy.

I don't know about the others, but my rifle feels very comforatable with the scope, I get a nice cheek weld not a chin weld, but this is also the only rifle with a scope that I still own as I preffer peep sights.
