What is the finest, most realiable 22LR revolver on the market?

For $135 less, MSRP, than that Classic 17, you can buy a current 4" 617 that will hold 10 rounds - and whose SS requires less protection from the elements, etc. You can spend the difference on some nice Ahrends grips, a HiViz SW617 sight, Wolff springs, and have some ammo funds left over. Want something just over 2/3 the weight? Try the J-frame 5" 63. The larger Hogues and Wolff springs will run you ~$38 more. Both go bang when you pull the trigger... or, fire them SA.

I've had a 4" SP-101, admittedly in .32, Ruger MKII, Ruger Single Six, and even an H&R. Believe me... the 4" 617 available new now is a fine revolver and far surpasses the othe others in utility and accuracy. The current 5" 63 is second on that list. Either would make a great 'kit' component. Still, for really bad times, I think a 64 and a bucket of .38s, hopefully 148gr full wadcutters and LHPSWCs, would make me feel more safe.

my first go 22 is a ruger mk-11 in ss, my second is a older s&w 617 ss with a 2x burris, my third is a light charter arms in .22 mag.. eastbank.

"If I had an army of zombie squirrels coming for my nuts, I would want a Single-Six w/ the spare WMR cylinder. "

I can hear your voice increase by an octave as you fumble with that SS to get the right cylinder installed for your available ammo. Those Zombie tree rats are mean...

You really want a DA capable .22 LR revolver for such a situation... and a DS-10 Speedloader, too!

While I really like my 17-3, my choice would be a single six or MK I, II or III. A 22 is not a good fighting weapon but you can carry enough ammo to keep you feed if game is available. JMHO : Bill

My favorite, by far, is the Ruger single-six, with a 6" tube. That is great and smooth. I also have a Taurus Tracker with a 6 inch barrel. That is cheap and has been very, very accurate so far. I only have about 2K shot through it, so I don't know how long it will stay that way, but for a range gun it is fun.

Any of these. (Smith & Wesson 17, Ruger Bearcat, Bersa Firestorm, Dan Wesson, Ruger Single Six, Ruger Mk II, MK III 22/45.) They'd all do the job.

But then I've already got them, so it would be sort of silly to go looking for more.

I'm too old to take to the hills, but the Bearcat is the one I carry around the "compound" here.

Chalk up another vote for the S&W model 63 like the one in General Geoff's excellent photos. They're 10 ounces lighter than the 4" 617 for tote-ability and are very accurate. Should be an excellent small game gun. Very pleased with mine.
For emergency use I like the loading/reloading speed and shooting speed of a double action.

How the Bersa 22 perform?

It's a good shooter. As accurate as you can expect a gun like that to be. It likes CCI mini-mags to run 100% though. With those it runs like a Swiss watch, but chokes with cheap bulk ammo. Spare magazines are expensive, and at least for us hard to find, but it's not like we needed a dozen. We got one and were happy.

It was my wife's first carry gun. She put literally thousands of rounds through it, mostly the CCI stuff, and we never had a problem with it. It's sort of retired now that she's graduated to a G-19, but she still takes it to the range from time to time.
