As an aside, Clint Eastwood's people talked with the company building the
.454 Magnum in about 1973 (pre Freedom Arms) but never pursued it. At the time the company had also designed a removable shoulder stock for the revolver which also never went anywhere.

There is some debate as to which is actually more powerful, the .500mag or the .460 S&W.

I'd say they're both pretty darn close though ... close enough that I wouldn't feel "undergunned" with one over the other.

My dad and I got to shoot both of those yesterday, and although the 500 mag was the winner, I would not feel underpowered with either for sure!

what do you mean most powerful? most stopping power? most velocity? combo?

do we know for sure that the 500 s&w is gonna hit harder than a .460 XVR

And somewhere in this favored land of ours a man is sitting in front of a keyboard with casts on both wrists and a pencil in his teeth, slowly tapping out a range report.

All he's managed to type so far is, "Although I cannot remember anything after pulling the trigger, as I was only unconscious for about 25 minutes, I can only conclude that the recoil was milder than I expected..."

Austrian Pfeifer-Zeliska .600 Nitro Express Magnum would be the most powerful, CUSTOM MADE handgun. It’s not commercially available.
I don't think that they would be selling like hot cakes.

The price is about $16,000.00 (yes thousands)

Does that price include the doctor's fee for removing the gun from my forehead after firing the first shot?

If it was me, and I brought that home, my wife would be jealous. Yea, even before I fired it, she would have that tattooed (in 3-D) in my forehead. I would not have to worry about buying a tripod for it. Her finding out that I got a new high maintenance item ($40 a round, besides the $16k), than she is (low maintenance). An under-statement, talking about money to burn.
Hey, some guys have trophy wives (high maintenance). The guy (in that picture) has a trophy gun.

p.s. anyone notice, for 16k. That guy is not smiling.
