Can't vote with the options listed - I carry a
full size 1911 Stainless Steel I think S&W
specs it at 39 oz. empty weight.

I've been thinking about a S&W 908S = 24 oz. or
the new to the market 1911 Compact ES 29 oz.?

I do have a MOdel 60 3" Bbl. 24 oz. but haven't got
a holster for it.

99% of the time it's a 1911 in 3"-4" or 5" configurations depending on mood and all over the 25 oz. mark.

? I think that fits option three pretty well .

Thanks all, and keep it coming. The information is starting to tell me quite a bit about prefered guns for carry. I wondered how to relate this to type of carry , although I suspect the heavier guns would most likely be waist band holster carried.

Leading the pack so far are light guns which doesn't surprise me, but I thought they might make up even more of the mix . Interesting to me anyway.

I can and do carry in 3 different ways.

1.) and most common; IWB ( COMIIO by hbeleatherworks.) This holster is amazing. I have absolutely no problems concealing the 5" 1911 wearing only cargo shorts and a T-shirt.

Last month, I wore this holster and gun on a road trip from CC, TX, all the way to Las Cruces, NM, and then I wore it around once we got there.

2.) I use one of those Galco Belly Bands. This thing is probably the most comfortable option for short term carry.
This is also what I'll slap on if I'm "just going to run to the store, etc...
It does have some major downsides, though. It wobbles some when I walk, and drawing from this thing is sloppy at best.

3.) I use a man bag that I bought from Pep boys on clearance.
It looks kinda like a scaled down, square messanger bag made of subdued blue green nylon.

It's got all kinds of neat little places to put things, and a big pocket in the back where I can place my 1911.
Sure, it took a little while to get used to carrying a bag, but it sure beats not carrying.

I open carry my wide body 1911. Probably somewhere around 40-45 ounces

I have a new 642 Powerport coming in, and it's supposed to be 15.4 oz or something like that. My old carry piece was an SP101, just over 25 oz.

29 ounce empty, not sure what full is, but probably another 6-8. so 37-40. IWB

Walther PPS and 6+1 9mm HST rounds, 24 ounces
Extra mag with 7 more, 5-6 ounces
mag holder (Gerber multitool sheath), ~2 ounces
PPS holster, 6-7 ounces

now I just need that last ounce of permit from .gov and I can carry outside the home.

My back up gun, a Ruger LCP with Crimson trace laser grips loaded with 7 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense in an Alabama Holster Co. pocket holster weighs in at only 13.8 oz.
