What is this thing?

Well I know thats a shotgun and I know they use it, but does it have a name, and who sells em? I always thought they were cool.

That is simply a leather lever wrap (usually custom made in the workshop ;)), and serves to reduce the distance the hand travels to cycle the lever and adds a little "padding" as well. Leather strips or shoestring should do well, but I would be wary of performing such a modification (unless it is SS) due to the potential for trapping moisture and promoting rust beneath the leather. :)

seniordep,
It was originally made by Winchester. (don't know and to lazy to look up the name/model number)
I believe Norinco imports a copy of said shotgun for SAS shooters along with the old pump/hammer shotgun (97?) that Win used to make.

Oh I see, I was thinking about making oone with these thin strips of leather I have. Kinda like a leather shoelace I guess, but thanks alot for the tip about rust, probably wont do it know cause I dont want rust :what:.

No problem senior, perhaps you could use something else that wouldn't trap moisture and sweat like synthetic leather, though I haven't tried it myself. :)

isn't that terminator's shotty? supposely chambered in 10 gauge and some chinese made...

Just a thought, if you can spare the cost of dura-coating the lever loop, the leather shouldn't cause such a rust problem. I wouldn't think the price of coating just the loop would be terribly high, if you can remove it yourself and mail/deliver it to someone to coat it. .....Or order the spray cans from Brownell's and DIY.

Might be worth investigating?

I've read accounts of people regretting wraps on the lever due to rust....thought it would be good to do myself until I encountered the rust lesson others have learned.

Yep...just hate it when rust strikes...especially the first touch of it on a new rifle. Maybe consider a leather shooting glove instead? I've always just used my 30-30 levers as is unless I'm hunting with gloves on. My 45/70 lever, is more squarish and bites a bit on the bones though...shooting gloves would be good for it.

I've seen those things on Harley brake and clutch levers, probably find them at a Harley dealer or chopper shop locally.

What most CB shooters do is clean and degrease the lever , then coat it with clear nail polish , then wrap it with leather ---- a cheap alt. is a girls pony tail "holder" -- seen them for a dollar and in fabric or leather.

A copy of the 1887 Winchester Lever Action Shotgun. 2 3/4" shells, 19 1/4" bbl., 12ga, cylinder bore choke, bead front sight, walnut stock.
Imported by Interstate Arms corp. made in china by various manufacturers.

IAC is importing these that were made by two different manufacturers of which I no not of the top, or bottom of my head...sorry.

Clear coat the metal you don't want to rust with a good epoxy type coat. Alumahyde. gun coat, it goes on forever!

......just taking note of how many have commented to what the weapon is and not to what the original post asks.....

The Gunman, you will find that extremely common on this board. A lot of folks don't read the entire post, and rush to get their opinion out there irregardless of other posts, and direction of the thread. Also you will find a lot don't read any posts ahead of theirs. Something I have found hard to get used to.

seniordep2010, glad you liked the links. Hopefully one of those will suit your needs. Please post a picture if you do dress your gun up.

TheGunman/Acera,
Hmmm. Kinda sounds like Seniordep was asking about the gun in the third post.
Perhaps you should take your own advise before throwing stones?

It seems clear to me that he is NOT talking about the gun, and trying to clarify that, if you read the first and second posts before the third post. YMMV.

Well Ditch, maybe seniordep2010 needs to start his one thread with his questions. The purpose is to answer the question that the OP asked. So catch that thrown stone is is at your head:fire: So have you contributed to the OPs posting/question in any meaningful way?? No, did not think so................
