Shot Gun Shells Aren't Paper Anymore??!!

CajunBass

My mom bought MY 1st 12 gauge at Western Auto. I too shot bird next to my grammer school. Every boy at my high school had a gun rack in his pickup and if you forgot and brought one to school, you were scolded but nothing much else. And many times I walked down our street to the river bed to shoot with my shot gun over my right forearm (pointed toward the ground of course). The worst that was ever said to me was "AIM NORTH, LEWIS"

57 here.

I'm so old that...

when I was 18, as a member of the high school rifle team (in suburban Tacoma) they let me fill up the trunk of a school owned vehicle with rifles and ammunition and drive across town with other students as passengers; so we could shoot our matches. The coach drove a van with the rest of the team and equipment, but we did not caravan. They did have liability issues: they wouldn't let me drive my own car if I had other students with me. A trunk full of guns was not their concern.

After comparing my age, to the combined age of all my guns, I realised I need to buy more guns. :scrutiny:

I do remember old TV shows such as Peticoat Junction, and Green Acres, in B & W. I remember the live broadcast of Nixon resigning while in grade school. I also remember all the roadrunner cartoons. If Wile E. Coyote was such a genius, why didn't he just buy a shotgun?

Well, I'm 50, but I woke up feelin' like an 18 year old - jus' coudn't find one, heh heh...
Biker:)

Older than: Tamara, pax, Smoke, kudu...

Younger than : Lee Lapin, P95Carry, Art, Old Fuff...

Ya'll figure it out.

Hint: I am currently the "cutt off age" for one age group in the poll, not for long tho'.

If'n ya want, get one of the Mods to let me post in the poll again when my age changes here shortly to help the next age bracket out.

Dang Whippersnappers!!

wowsers,
i look at certain former entertainments and say,"looks like i am not seventeen any more." and my wife says, "no bull, you are not just twice seventeen, now you are triple." arrrgh.

i rember going to the hardware store with two dollars, buying 4 boxes of .22 long
ammo(not LR) and having enough change for a quart of milk and a tray of dayolds at the bakery. good for all day rat hunting down the RR cut. take the rats to the silo and the guys would pay bounty. same for the last farmer and the dairy. sometimes got paid three times for the same rat.

I'm the same age as Peggy Fleming. She was 20 when she won the gold in the 1968 Winter Olympics. Actually I didn't know that until I heard it on TV a couple of days ago. And in a couple of more days I'll probably forget it.:D

Biker -

I ain't made to 51 yet. Bookies still taking bets - so you too have time to place one.

"They" said I wouldn't make 16, 18, 21, 25, 28, 30, 32, 40, 50...

Gee, I understand how George Burns felt - I have outlived some bookies...and they were younger than me. :p

Barbara- Lots of ladies instead of stating "37" instead state "20+17".

When mom turned 76 , she gave me "that look" when I mentioned she was "20+20+20+16".
"I'm too old to remember all that...I like it...just I'll lose track of all them numbers along the way...".

After looking at the poll I see it's no wonder everybody except for the guy looking back at me in the mirror looks so young these days! It doesn't really seem a long time since 6 oz. bottle cokes in machines cost a nickle & tasted a LOT different from the stuff available nowdays. .22's were less than a penny apiece & haircuts were 75 cents....... Now I just wish I had bought a bunch of those cheap gvt. .45's, Luger bringbacks & Garands that were available for almost nothing prices........

I'm old enough that my mother ordered my first gun from Sears and Roebuck, and it came to the house in the mail. :what: I'm old enough that we used to shoot doves in the field next to school, after school was out for day. Everyone carried a shotgun in the trunk of thier car, or hanging in the gun rack of a pickup. I'm old enough that the sight of a kid walking down the road, with a shotgun or a 22 rifle, would cause people to beep the horn and wave, not call the cops. :D I remember paper shotgun shells.

53

Yep. I remember the cops stopping me and a friend @ 13-14 on the shoulder and asking how the hunting was and complimenting us on our bag. The guns in the hardware store were unchained and the owner let young teenage boys acually pick one up and "look" at it. The paper shot shells were sold to anyone with the money (as were 22lr while your teen buddy sat outside the store with his rifle waiting) and would swell when wet and refuse to chamber if one wasn`t careful and left them rolling in the bottom of the canoe.

Heh, well, sm, last week on APS I claimed to be 38 until I thought about it..if I can't keep track of two digits, I'm sure not going to try to do addition in the middle of it. :)
