What is your all-time favorite rifle?

I love all my rifles, but my Marlin 881 will always take the honor of favorite. I got the rifle when I was 12 years old, and it was a constant companion for many years. The rifle, along with an old Weaver 4x scope my uncle gave me, has accounted for untold numbers of prairie dogs and a sizable pile of cottontails too. It almost seems to shoot without me in the field, if that makes amny sense.....the act of shouldering it, finding my target in the scope, flipping off the safety, and squeezing the trigger have all become instinctual after 20-some odd years of using it. It may just be a cheap bolt .22 to some, but that rifle symbolizes all I love about shooting and hunting to me, and I will never part with it as long as I'm kicking.

My 40x XB made me Master in NRA Highpower. I sold it when I was sick. It just sort of fit me, and it just shot well.

I really enjoy my PTR 91.

Mine is a Handi-Rifle in 500 S&W. I hand load all my ammo to be subsonic. If I want more power, I just up my bullet weight. It's really enjoyable to shoot, no supersonic crack, just a satisfying boom, and those big old bullets really slap things around.

It's just an old 92 Winchester carbine in 32-20 but I've killed coyotes, snakes and one dog that was trying to be rude to my favorite son with it.

Without a doubt, my favorite rifle ever is the Remington 510 Targetmaster. Its light, handy and puts bullets where I want them.

For target work:
it is my Swedish CG-63 target rifle in 6.5x55mm...

Although I no longer hunt deer with centerfire rifles, my all time favorite from way back still is my Savage M99 A in .250/3000. I've long lost count of the deer that have fallen to this beautiful rifle.



For a long time, now, I've hunted exclusively with flintlocks (and a few caplocks) and my favorite up to the present is my custom Late Lancaster .45. It has chalked up an astonishing score. It is being semi-retired to give a .50 upstart Early Lancaster hybrid a chance.

I'm going to have to vote M1 Garand, also. Interestingly, I don't own one. In the modern day, there are better battle rifle/carbine choices, and better game choices. But for it's time, and legacy... hard to beat.

My most favorite looking rifle I ever laid my eyes upon was a Walther WA 2000.

Couldn't tell you how it shoots or if it's reliable. All I know is that it's rare, expensive and a little (way) out of my price range....
