I was wondering if anyone had anything to share about favorite AR 15 Lower Parts Kits (or to dump on a bad one) and why you chose them?

Myself, I have stuck to DPMS and CMMG for builds (get my triggers separately is part of it and laziness is the other) but would like to know if others have had good/bad experiences on builds using these LPK's or subsequent problems with the parts quality in a specific LPK.

Dpms and PSA kits I use a lot, but my favorite "kit" is the AERO lower kit. Smooth triggers, good pin detents, and a safety that snaps on and off with authority. Usually about the same price as a cmmg kit and a lot nicer IMO.

Did not know Aero made one. I really like their lowers. Thanks.

I like PSA for the value
My last build I got the PSA kit with the Magpul grip and ALG trigger. It wasn't much more than their regular kit prices but the grip and trigger are much nicer than their basic kit.

I’m branching out a bit. I bought RRA for my first build since I’m familiar with their LPK. It was on sale at under $30 which seemed reasonable to me for what turned out to be a good, no-frills kit. I considered the basic A2 grip a $1.50 gimme for the future parts bin, replaced it with an Ergo and added a two-stage RRA Varmint trigger.

Second build I purchased Strike Industries’ Enhanced LPK, $37 (no grip, no hammer/sear/trigger, but pins and springs included). And, while they don’t quite match I swapped out the bolt catch, mag release, and button with parts from Battle Arms Development. All good stuff, probably would have stuck with all Strike if I had known about the color difference.

I’d like to try some others as well.

I've built off stag, psa x2, and a couple generic. I keep the stock triggers and do the set screw mods. The stag was noticably better. The rest were all the same. I'll buy stag in the future because they were 1)better and 2) come in left handed.

That's funny cause I like those stocks....

Funny I’ve seen this deal and wondered what the stock was like. I have a PSA lower with a bare bones stock I hate and another AR with an Ace Skeleton stock that I love. The difference is night and day, so I’m leary of inexpensive kits with a crummy stock.

I guess I can order one and see but I’d hate to have to swap it out and have it go to a box and be wasted. I guess if you like them, if I hate it, I could find a home for it!

It comes with a qd sling tab, and it fits the shoulder really well. I also have an ace skeleton and love it too

I usually buy the lower parts kit from the place I am buying the bulk of the rest of the parts. I do not have a favorite lower parts kit brand but I tend to stay away from the bargain basement priced ones.

I prefer Geissle triggers.

During the periods of parts shortages, I would buy one or two kits to squirrel away for a future, un-named project.

I built one AR with a DPMS LPK. $40, everything fit first time (except for the detent spring getting mangled, but that was my fault), and all the parts work fine. The trigger is kind of gritty, but hey, if you buy a milspec parts kit, you should expect to get a milspec trigger.

In the future, I'd probably buy whatever big-name company's LPK was the cheapest (PSA, Aero, CMMG, etc). If that happened to be DPMS, I'd buy it again without hesitation.

I voted DPMS and PSA, whichever is cheaper, cause they both work fine in my experience. I think Brownells kits are DPMS made. If I want a good trigger, I buy a Larue MBT, on sale now for $87.

I like 2. Palmetto. Nickel Plated. The other is the Anderson with stainless hammer and trigger
