What is your home defense pistol choice?

My first pistol purchase was a Ruger SR9C and it was my home defense choice. I have not found a reason to demote it from HD. WIth the 17 round mag I don't feel undergunned. I may even give the old girl a new hat and put a weapon light on it this year.
Shot it today at the range....... yup, no reason to get something different

I dont care if the gun was 6 figures and I will never see it again.. If me and my family are safe and sound, it did the job it was employed to do. What else could I possibly ask of it? My life and my families is worth far more than what a decent diner out costs.

Why people dwell on the evidence angle I’ll never know.

It would be my CCW, a Ruger LCRx 3". My wife's Glock 42 is right next to it in the speed safe. I like to think I live in a safe area but I also have cameras on my house and my 80 pound German Shepherd; she's my main line of defense.

HK P-30 SK with a light attached. Might put the light on my HK45 and carry my P-30. I have carbines and shotguns but nothing in my hood has ever caused me to think seriously about a suicide break in. I've been here 28 years. It's real quite.

IMHO, the best plan is a shotgun and a pistol, you can utilize whichever has the quickest access in a given scenario.

If I have a choice, it's going to be #4 Buck from one of my two HD shotguns but a G17 with 124gr +P Speer Gold Dots
is also available if needed. If you look into HD DFG scenarios liked the American Rifleman Armed Citizen stories, you quickly see that there is no "typical" scenario, they are almost always somewhat different.

My home defense pistol dujour is the same pistol I routinely carry. An FNS9. I'd call it a mid-size or light service size handgun. When it's not on my belt, it's generally in the night stand. If there is a perceived elevated threat, it's back on my belt and the shotgun stuffed with OO is readily accessible. During the MPLS riot BS, a hijacked MRAP would have had a bad day on the road 300 yards for my house. I escalate my HD based on possible local or regional threats.

A secondary homestead defense pistol is a Taurus M66 .357. This is for things outdoors such as coyotes, raccoons with a modestly loaded 158 SWC, and smaller varmints mostly with snake loads. It also serves with speer shot capsules while using the riding lawn mower for voles and ground squirrels. Great sport hitting those from the rider as they scurry away.
