What is your One Caliber

I don't have one now, but.

I am as fickle as a school boy when it comes to calibers. I love the Swede and the 260 for whitetails. For pronghorn I like the 270 Win and the 257 Weatherby. Elk would get a 300WSM or a 338, but if I could have only one, it would be a 30-06. You can buy ammo in a mom and pop store in Podunk USA. It can be had in just about any configuration from bolt to pump to semi-auto to lever to singleshot. Bullet selection is diverse in both loaded ammo and components, and with the proper bullet it will handle anything on the North American Continent. In fact, I may have to go get one tomorrow.

I'd have to pick .30 caliber, but I'd sure miss my .22s. I shoot 6 different cartridges in .30 caliber and 4 center fire cartridges in .22. I have many other calibers but none as useful as these two. Concentrating on these two sure simplifies stocking reloading supplies too.

I would need a hunting rifle and a fighting rifle. Though I like 5.56 rifles for fighting, they are a bit light for hunting. If forced to use only one cartridge, I'd likely keep my .308 bolt gun for hunting and pick up an AR-10 to complement it. Alternately, a .30-06 bolt gun would pair well with my M1 Garand. I guess could also keep my AK and buy a CZ carbine chambered in 7.62x39 to use on whitetails.

I only had used 7,62 mm, 300WIN, 30-30 and 45-70 government.
Heard a lot of good things about 30-06.

Only one caliber ? Good for my purposes ?
Anytime that will be 45-70 government.

30-06 Springfield. That's what my favorite rifle is chambered for.

If there were still woodchucks around and I was shooting in the 200 yd matches also then the 243.

30-06 custom.

That be .22 LR for small game hunting and 7.62 x 39 for self defense and hunting small, medium and big games at close distances. Yep, it can kill big game less than 100 yrds distance. Know the anatomy of the game you re after and they will go down.

I have .45 colt, 7.62x54r, 5.56 but if I had to keep only one,
it would be my 6.5 Grendel.
It us accurate, powerful, and has very lite recoil.
