The other night as I returned home from the movies about 9:00 I, and my neighbors, heard a gun shot. I was already in the house at the time and I grabbed my gun and spare clip and put them on. I grabbed my flashlight as well and put it in my pocket. When I heard the shot I asked my wife if she had heard it and she said that she had not. I was busy making sure that I was ready "just in case" and I never heard the door open and shut. I did however hear it the second time when my wife came back in to tell me that all my neighbors were standing in there driveways talking about it.:banghead: I am sometimes amazed that we have survived as species for this long. So, I looked out my window and, sure enough, there they all were standing in there driveways most of them lit up by street lights. When I did go out it I turned off the outside floodlight and kept my flashlight at the ready but off. I only went out several minutes later and only to make sure that my vehicle and trailer were secure. I returned to the house and made sure to lock the doors. I have told my wife that the next time she hears a shot that she is not to go out and become a target like my neighbors. Nothing happened but it was a learning experience. By the way I am not saying that I did evything right. For starters I realized that while there were 2 Ars and a model 1100 in the house at the time I had no ammo readily available for them. I did however have two fully loaded Glocks and an S&W 36. My long gun of choice would have been the Mossberg 590 which was locked in the trailer unloaded. I have since rectified both problems.
