What one single firearm would you choose as a gift?

Another id like to have is a Desert Eagle in 50 ... I've had one in 44 mag but I never felt a connection to it, several people have said the 50 is a much friendlier handling and milder in recoil ... I find it hard to believe and wouldn't buy one for that reason ... but if someone was to gift me one I'd appreciate it!

if i could own one rifle, it would be one that is so close i can almost smell it, but will probably never make into my collection. my grandpa owned a 721 Remington in .270 I'd do almost anything for. He was a great man, who loved to hunt and the outdooors. i'd always secretly pined for it, but when he passed away, my grandmother gave it to his son, which is both understandable and unfortunate. understandable of course, due to the heritage, unfortunate becasue my uncle isn't a hunter, shooter, or avid outdoorsman of any kind, and truthfully has never been seemingly fond of me, making the chance i could someday acquire it even more slim. i inherited almost a dozen guns from his brother a few months back, and while i appreciate each and every one of them, that 721 is my Grail gun....not just ANY 721, but he one my grandpa used so efficiently.

I have a short list and any one of these would be acceptable.

Wow, hard to narrow this down. I would say it would have to be something I thought was "neat" as a kid....

First thought would be authentic WW2 in great shape; a Luger, Mauser Broomhandle, or truly legit 1911A1. Since I have a more recent example of the 1911, I'd say one of the German guns.

But then, I get to thinking about the cowboy guns, and a Colt SAA comes to mind. A real one.

I'd like to have the M1 my Dad was issued at Ft Hood in 1943 that he carried through North Africa, Sicily, and Italy.... It's impossible though.. On the Liberty ship on the way home they made an announcement that everyone would be searched and any captured weapons, etc would be confiscated and they were to be thrown overboard... Well Dad wasn't too happy about that, so his M1 went overboard too!

A 9mm P-08 "Luger" Pistol. Always thought they were cool. Always wanted one. Never enough to spend the money, but as a gift, that's a different story.
Same with me....... But in 2001 I got a Luger...... as a gift ; inherited from the estate of one of my uncles. He brought it home from Germany's V-2 Rocket factory in 1945 when he was helping Uncle Sam pack up Germany's rocket program for shipment to the USA. He never spoke of it at all and I never knew of its existence until 1997 when he mentioned something about the old Luger in his bedroom closet. Never dreamed I'd someday own a Luger. Best gun gift I ever got.

My current favorite pistol to shoot is a slightly modified Baretta 92 (which is kind of embarrassing after all the years I ranted at people about how stupid the military was in dropping the 1911 for it) so I'd probably have to vote for it.
Though I did just get a .357 S&W Model 19 revolver that's pretty sweet.

An M60. While the 249 is fun, and the 240 isn't boring, the 60 I shot just felt right. Might've been one of the last 60s in the Army in the early-mid 2000s.

I'd pick an M2 but who could afford to feed one of those regularly?
