What revolver do you wish they'd make?

The return of the top-break revolver!!!

I just wish someone would make a modern top-break in a major caliber. An updated version of the New Model No. 3 in .357 would be ideal, as would an updated Webley in .45 ACP.

Yes, I'd love this too. I have an old Webley and it is one of the most fun guns I have. I'd love to see a new, modern, alloy top-break in .357, or even a .32 H&R mag! in Scandium it would be a feather to carry!

Also, I'd like to see more "modern" out-of-the-box-thinking designs. I like the idea of a handgun that does not need to fire for feeding and extraction, but it doesn't have to look like a traditional revolver:

I never, ever want to see a TactiKewl revolver again.

Smith recently came out with an "operator's" 357magnum. With rails.:barf:

I would like to see Ruger come out with a Redhawk/SRH 45acp moonclip or 10mm moonclip 6-shooter. I'd buy one. Either caliber. I want a moonclip 6-shot revolver without the lawyer glory hole.

I want ruger to re-introduce the sp101 4" .22LR revolver they used to have. I'd get rid of my Taurus 94 for one if I heard about that.

I love DA revolvers, I'm 28, and I will probably always like DA revolvers over autos or SA's. They're an engineering marvel. There's definitely a market for them.

I would like a modern revolver . . . carbine. Swingout cylinder, single/double action, scope mount options, etc. Your choice of calibers. Faster action than pump/lever, and fewer issues than semi-auto. Round capacity is a drawback, but loading could be quick with the right speedloaders. A .44 Magnum Redhawk frame and six shot cylinder behind a 16.5" barrel. Plenty of possibilities.

A THREE INCH BARRELLED, moon-clipped, "L" framed Model 646 (.40S&W) w/ titanium cylinder and lightweight frame.

This is as close as they got, with my PC646 w/stainless frame and a 4" barrel. A CCW-friendly .40S&W moonclipped revolver would be really nice!:

1. affordable and AVAILABLE 627 snubbie (2 5/8 inch).....seems they are as rare as a chicken with breasts, not to mention super expensive.

2. a revolver in 5.7 mm, that round from FN

Here's another one. Back when I worked at a gun shop many people wanted personal/home protection, and $130 for a Hi-Point or $200 for an old S&W M&P / Model 10 was the most they could afford. The hi-point usually got the nod because 9mm was cheaper for practice than 38 Special. So I'd like to see a very basic Rossi revolver, moon clipped, in 9mm. Use a cheap baked on finish and market it as a very basic personal defense weapon. Low cost, reliable, and readily available cheap ammo.

A Scandium Centennial pattern from SW in 9mm with the 547 like extractor.

There was a rumour of a bodyguard Sc with moonclips a few years ago on the SW forum but I've not heard of it.

That Mateba carbine is the heat. I gotta get me one of those.

Dream gun right now is a Mateba style DA non-auto revolver in .45 colt. I like the lower bore axis and stuff of the mateba, but don't need the auto part.

Also, it'd be super neato to have a 6 shot SP101 in 5.7mm made of lightweight materials. That would be one heck of a carry weapon.

Just for the fun of it, I would like to build an O/U double barreled .22LR revolver. The cylinder would have two concentric rings of chambers with the inner chambers centered between the outer ring’s chambers. The lockwork would advance the cylinder so as to fire the outer/upper cylinder/barrel then the inner/lower cylinder/barrel. In a large frame, capacity would be, perhaps, as high as 17 rounds. With the exception of regulating the barrels (perhaps a HUGE exception ), this would be all on-the-shelf technology.

This has been done - see AB Zhuk's Encyclopedia of Handguns.
It held 21 rounds: 14 in the outer ring, 7 in the inner.

Another thread got me thinking of my version of the perfect packin' pistol (credits to Taffin). I would love Ruger to produce the Stainless Redhawk in .45 Colt with a 4"-4.5" barrel, round butt, lanyard loop, and a gold bead or tritium front sight. It would be neat!

I wish they would make a break-open .45 colt revolver strong enough to take hotter loads. Something like a Laramie, but built to accept something like 255 grain bullets traveling at around 1000-1200 FPS.
I believe the Laramie could easily handle 255@1000.

Speaking of top breaks...

I don't see why someone hasn't reintroduced the S&W Perfected in a large frame size. The twin latch system could easily handle .44 Magnum pressures.

So making one with a short cylinder in .45 Auto Rim would be a piece of cake.

Prof Wickwire, I too am a great admirer of the Merwin & Hulbert and I really wish someone would make a reproduction in .44WCF. With all of the interest in CAS I am surprised someone hasn't. However I fear they would cost well over $1500.
And, unfortunately, due to the extraction system I don't think it would be reliable in .45 Colt. Sadly, it seems that if it can't be made in .45 Colt or .357 then the Cowboys won't buy it.

I'd like a .45ACP Ruger (though it doesn't have to be Ruger) revolver, in steel with rubber grips. 5 shots would OK, 6 would be even better -- and I'd *like* it to work with the moon clips I already have.

CDNN has the Trackers in Titanium and SS for $299.

I bought one in Titanium and can't wait to try it out.

Mateba makes an auto-revolver carbine in .357, .44, and .454

Not any more they don't.

A buddy of mine has one in .44mag, I thought it was great so he put me in touch with the importer for the UK, all he had left was one in .454, I went to get it and my gunsmith said don't bother as you can't get the spares anymore as Mateba has gone 'belly up'

This is a photo of the one I was offered and in all honesty I'm still interested. You can remove the front and rear stocks and use it as a big pistol as well:)

1999 was the 100th anniversary of the Smith & Wesson Military and Police revolver in 38 special. You would have thought that Smith would make a readily available commemorative, but no, they only made a few and didn't advertise. Probably a function of the then current English owners. Well it's never too late, just leave off the lock and MIM parts for this one. Myabe as a PC gun.

S&W 627 in 9MM

Cheap, reasonably powerful, and a fantastic action.

redhawk strength s&w action in a gp100 3 inch 44 mag
i would also like to see somebody make a 22 the size of my redhawk so i can practice with it without shelling out the dough to buy 44 ammo

one shot one kill

A S&W J frame sized .44 special.
