Anybody have a wish for a dream gun, or some kind of custom revolver? What wheelgun do you really want that isn't out there?

Me, I'm not picky. I just wish S&W would make me a model 629 with a 5" barrel. They make that, of course, but I'd want it with an unfluted cylinder, Hamiliton Bowen custom sights (with tritium inserts), and the barrel profile of the 627 JM models.

Like so, but with an unfluted cylinder:

Then, I'd have Arizona Response Systems do up the whole thing in METACOL III/Satin Black.

But that's me. What about you guys?

S&W K-Frames with improved metallurgy to get closer to L frame strength. All S&Ws to lose the lock and MIM parts and go back to hammer mounted firing pins, recessed cylinders, and pinned barrels - all hand fitted of course.

a S&W revolver without a built in lock, a Charter Arms Bull Dog .44spl with competent Q.C. and stronger parts.

I'd like to see S&W bring back the 696. I wonder if they considered it on a limited run basis. Make a bunch every couple of years to keep those who want them supplied without having to pay ridiculous prices. I should have picked one up when they first came out.

Smith's without the d*$% lock.

A Ruger .454 SA.

More .22's. They seem to have dried up when I try to get new shooters into the sport.

A full size, high capacity .32 mag, with light rail:evil: Great home gun!

More light rails in general. I'm a revolver fan and don't see why we can't have light also!

Merwin, Hulbert & Co. single and double action revolvers in .32 S&W Long, .38 S&W, .38-40, .44-40, and .45 Colt.

Like this one:

GP100 Five shot .44 Magnum. 3 and 4 inch barrels

Wouldn't that be the cat's pajamas?

I'll take one in .45 ACP, moon clipped with fixed sights in 3", thanks...

I want more S&W revolvers with 3" barrels in
all frame size's.No locks, fixed sights and made
in stainless and blued.

What dbarale said: .45 moonclipped Ruger

I'd like a .45ACP Ruger (though it doesn't have to be Ruger) revolver, in steel with rubber grips. 5 shots would OK, 6 would be even better -- and I'd *like* it to work with the moon clips I already have.

The police specials from S&W in Scandium with black frame and wood grips are not what I want :) I'm aware of (and have) a steel 625 (mine's the 5" barrel version), but what I'd like is something more along the lines of a small 357 in size.

Yes, Taurus makes (or is it not longer in production?) a Tracker in .45 (5-shot), but I'd like my small steel .45ACP revolver to be unported, with an exposed but unobtrusive hammer, so single action shooting was possible.

By the way, I realize that people have and do cut down (and by this I mean have gunsmithed, if they are not personally competent to do it) the barrels on 625s, especially since they're not making the 3" any more; is the result a long enough barrel at 3"? (how about 2"?) to take advantage of the .45ACP?

Yes, I know a .357 is a versatile round, that .357s can fire soft-touch 38s, etc -- but one of my peeves is ammo proliferation, and I have already pistols in .45 and 9mm, and can't afford to have a whole zoo needing different feed for each beasty. Maybe when I'm older and richer! (Also, I *like* revolvers in cartridges conventionally assigned to autopistol, just like I like handgun-caliber long-arms. Contrariness, I suppose.) The best argument for a 357 IMO (and for my own case) is that some are adaptable for 9mm with moon clips.

p.s. Besides some Webleys and the 625, what .45ACP revolvers should I know about? I know (that is, have gleaned from this forum) some Ruger Blackhawks can be had with .45ACP cylinders (right?), but they're a bit "cowboy" for my aesthetics. Has Ruger in fact ever made a GP-100 with a .45ACP cylinder?

All the old K-frames. After some research, I don't know if metallurgy is as important as good QC.
The Colt Detective's Special, including the .22LR - an improved trigger would be nice.
The Colt Python.
Quality bluing on a well polished surface. A cheap an effective coating like these wonder-teflon things that reduces wear and preserves the frames.
And barrels with 3" length, because 2.5" really doesn't do it.

3" GP-100 Short Shroud in .41 Mag :D

I agree....Bring back the S&W 696

Colt brings back the Detective Special......Able to manage +P's

Everyone hates the lock, but it really doesn't do anything bad for the gun. I've never understood the hatred for it. I've got an S&W with a lock, and I've never used it. I still have the key, but it's never touched the gun. What's the point in complaining about something like this?

I wish they would make a break-open .45 colt revolver strong enough to take hotter loads. Something like a Laramie, but built to accept something like 255 grain bullets traveling at around 1000-1200 FPS.

Just for the fun of it, I would like to build an O/U double barreled .22LR revolver. The cylinder would have two concentric rings of chambers with the inner chambers centered between the outer ring’s chambers. The lockwork would advance the cylinder so as to fire the outer/upper cylinder/barrel then the inner/lower cylinder/barrel. In a large frame, capacity would be, perhaps, as high as 17 rounds. With the exception of regulating the barrels (perhaps a HUGE exception ;) ), this would be all on-the-shelf technology.

It might even be possible to manage this in a smallbore centerfire such as the .32 H&R Magnum.

If Ruger ever offers a 10mm or .41 mag GP100, my credit card will leap from my wallet.

Everyone hates the lock, but it really doesn't do anything bad for the gun.
Every once in a while--not often, but just once in a great while, the locks will engage due to recoil.

What I wish they would make is a Super Redhawk with a barrel profile that makes at least an attempt to follow the contour of the frame extension. That square frame extension with a round barrel poked into the frame looks like somebody just stuck something together out of spare parts they had lying around.

Here's a picture of what I'm thinking about. You wouldn't have to have a full underlug as in the picture, just some attempt at making the barrel look like it really goes with the gun. And you'd need a lower front sight--the picture is a sloppy photoshop job.

I want a stainless version of the original NYSP 520. N-frame, fixed sights, .357 magnum.

1) A 6-round stainless steel S&W J-frame Centennial chambered in .32 H&R Magnum, without the lock, and with the older style cylinder latch (not the flat latch, but the one right after that).

2) An 8-round(?) stainless steel S&W J-frame Centennial chambered in .22 Magnum, without the lock, and with the older style cylinder latch.

3) A USFA replica of the 1890 Remington Police available in .45 Colt and .38 Special.

4) A satin stainless steel version of USFA's Rodeo.

5) A USFA replica of the Webley MK VI, chambered in .45acp (moon clips?) and .38 special.

6) A resurrection of Colt's Detective Special, and a 5" Police Positive Special, both chamber in .38 special.

7) A S&W 6" K frame with a built in weaver-type scope mount and a target barrel, available in .38 special and .22LR, again with no lock and the older type cylinder latch.
