I always figured that folks who get to the top of any sort of endeavor generally worked harder than the "competition". Doesn't matter if it's the CEO of a giant corporation, an Indy 500 winner, or a trophy hunter.
You want the biggest buck on the ranch? First, you gotta find him. Then, after you've checked out the other bucks, you gotta find Mr. Big a second time--since now you know he's the biggest. That second time can be a real challenge ("Challenge" doesn't even begin to describe the problem. )
Does it really matter WHO eats the meat?
I have a fair number of deer horns around the place. Even after 30 and 40 years, I can tell you the stories of the hunts. The "fighting buck". The "sleeping buck". The "very patient buck". And others...Heck, that's more immortality than I, myself, am likely to have...
And you get right down to it, it's the campfire stories that are the most important part of the whole deal...
