Eight years old. .22LR out of a Winchester 1906. The '06 is still Queen of my gun safe after my Dad gave it to me some years back. It was given to him when he was eight, back in 1940. His Dad owned a General Store, and one day a cheese salesman came in when my Dad was begging for a .22 rifle. My Grandfather wasn't going to give in. Next visit by the salesman, he handed my Dad the '06 from out of his trunk. It was made in 1922, and had already seen quite a bit of use, but it became my Dad's prized possession until he handed it down to me.
