He's an idiot and a very poor representative of the community.

hso you are being very kind.

Sounds to me like he was trying to act all bad because he was packing. I think he was trying to show off and totally made an idiot of himself. Of course, he did not know that. Hopefully next time he does it he doesn't get shot.

So what was he covering you with (what was he carrying)? Large frame pistol, I bet it was a .50ae Desert Eagle Mall Ninja special w/ compensator (but what could he possibly be compensating for?)

I think his actions were stupid and the guy is an idiot. He could of been trying to say that anyone could walk up to you and rob you because of the situation you two put yourselves in. I agree with 72IH, count your tills when the place is locked up and its secure.

Technically, you could have thought he was going to rob you, and if you pulled your gun, and shot him, he would not only have been a fool, but a dead fool.

Wow...that is about the dumbest thing i have heard, I would not consider that a good idea to do in a room with my closest friends and family. Doing that in front of a stranger...particularly one carrying money, that is dumb.

If the shock wore off quick enough, I would have given some royal hell.

1. I would have called the police, and treat it as an attempted robery. I'm sure the store has some sort of camra system, so they could get his picture.

2. If I was carrying I would have went for my gun. No stranger comes up to someone carrying a lot of cash and shows off a gun. Assume its a robery, draw, order to the ground, disarm, wait for police.

It sounded like he was trying to rob you and got scared at the last minute. I would say you got lucky.

You encountered the money-tapping mall ninja. You guys are sure the other mall ninja the secret sercive recently got at an airport isn't walking around again?

The way I read it I thought you were geting robbed! As a few others said maybe the store should make a few changes for security.
I would've reported it as an attempted robbery and tried to get the knuckehead.
As for use of force...well I wasn't there however I came from TX am round and from time to time OC. As the others have said not a responsible individual or a respectable member of our community.
Glad everything worked out for you.

This whole thing kinda reminds me of an incident that took place in my friend's pizza restaurant one night...

We were hanging out playing poker after hours one summer night when these two guys came by walking a dog, it was probably around 1 am or so. The doors were open(it was hot) so they decided to walk right it after tying the dog's leash to a post. We were all weirded out when they just started talking to us and it was pretty strange. My one friend warned them to be careful walking around so late(at that time there was a recent spree of stabbings and armed robberies). One of the guys says "oh i'm not worried" and pulls back his unbuttoned shirt he was wearing over an undershirt to reveal a pistol in a shoulder holster. I was starting to get really uncomfortable with this whole situation and I had my hand on my XD45 in my IWB holster(that side of my body was facing away from them). The guy with the pistol started to reach for it, he might have just wanted to show us the gun but that was about the last straw for me so I drew my pistol and kept it pointing down at my side and turned to face them. At the sight of that the guy put his arm down and away from the holster and became pretty uneasy. He and his friend left about a minute after that.

I still wonder about that situation, I think he was just an over eager, tackleberry type who wanted to show off his CCW permit/gun. Stuff like that bothers me and reaching for a gun like that made all kind of alarms go off in my head. I think idiots like that are doing a lot of harm to the public's perception of CCW permit holders and the RKBA cause in general.

Pokin' fun at other people can be instructive, but at some point it veers off The High Road and just becomes repetitive. Certainly, rude generalizations about why some folk carry or how they carry have little instructive value.

Let's just move along and all agree that this fella's actions were inappropriate and potentially dangerous and/or illegal.
