Have You Ever Caught Some One Printing?

I've spotted quite a few over the years.

Most were shoulder holsters, front, across the back, and around the collar, the main reason was inappropriate coats or cover garment, and not paying attention.

As far as belt carried holsters, its usually the wrong cover garment, or holster(OWB) and with that combination, the wrong movements, like lifting the arm to reach for something, or bending forward.

Just last night shopping at JC Penny with the wife. Noticed a middle aged gentleman wearing a tucked in bike week t-shirt and blue jeans with a black fanny pack carried in front. Bet he was carrying.

Only once a customer at our shop is a police officer and a very nice guy. He was off duty and came in to pick up his truck and I noticed a glock under his shirt, small of back and mentioned "Ernie you're printing really bad" he took notice and asked me where my gun was. I inquired to how he new I carried and he said that in all his years on the force the only people that ever spot a gun usually carry themselves. We than talked holsters and CCW for a few minutes.

My wife and I were eating lunch out one day and we see a bunch of guys come in, with a couple of them wearing gun shirts or shirts advertising the gun store they apparently worked at. It was a gun show weekend and it looked like the whole group was packing. I saw two guns lumps for sure, one guy wearing a photographers vest and the last guy, (wearing a tight tucked in shirt) I couldn't see anything on, so I asked my wife about him. She eyeballed them as they walked out and said "Look at his ankle." Sure enough, huge bulge on his left ankle. Remember, the waistband is not the only place to carry.

now that summer is here, I haven't been able to conceal as much as I'd like. The other day grabbing a coffee before work, I dropped some napkins on the floor and bent down to pick them up. My shirt rode up over my 1911 and I didn't notice right away, but once I did, quickly pulled my polo over my sidearm.

As I was walking out the door, I noticed a woman, mouth agape, looking at me like I had three heads. She definitely saw it. As I was walking accross the parking lot I noticed her quickly ushering her kids to her car, nervously watching me.

Of course, I live in a very liberal, sanctuary city, where open carry is legal, but most citizens here are anti-gun... not anti-criminal, just anit-gun.

I pulled into my bank's parking lot behind another car one day. It was a maroon Crown Victoria with a spotlight, dark tint, and a mess of antennas on the trunk - classic unmarked police car around here. The guy who got out had a buzz cut, wrap around sunglasses, sweatshirt, and khakis. Standing behind him in line I could see where his sidearm was, but I never would have noticed if all the other clues hadn't told me first that he was a LEO.

I think I spot a lot of potential concealed weapons, and then there are those who don't even try like a guy I recently saw at a local Walmart that openly carried his pearl handled stainless .45 auto on his hip. My son and I thought he was just showing off and it was a pretty piece of jewelry.

I spotted four guys carrying at lunch a while back. I've been made a couple of times. Most recently by a police officer who said nothing at all to me. Just after my friend and I passed the officer on the way into a popular LEO lunch hangout, my buddy says "you just got made."

"Really?"

"Yeah man, his eyes were on your hip the whole time you passed."

*shrug*

Must've been printing pretty badly. But I'm one of those indifferent concealers.

Yes - my Basic Handgun Safety instructor printed BADLY. What was humorous was that he asked us midway through the class if anyone thought that he was armed. I had already seen him print within the first five minutes of class, but didn't have the heart to tell him so. He really thought that no one had guessed that he had a Glock in an IWB holster. I just kept my mouth shut, and pretended like it was a big "surprise", when he lifted his shirt to show us his "concealed" Glock. LOL.

In all fairness, the guy taught a really good class (he is a sheriff's deputy), and I really liked him. :)

Spot the CCW was a favorite past time of mine when I worked at a local knife company. Especially on my regulars who I knew carried on a regular basis. What to pack and how to pack it was a regular topic-when we weren't talking knives, that is.

The easiest ones to spot were the bulges on the hips of the men in the dark coats one day when Dubya was in town (SS Agents- very cool guys, btw).

I'm sure I print from time to time- it's hard not to print every once in a while when carrying a G17 with +2 mag extensions.

I don't sweat it a whole heck of a lot, though. I make sure that no part of the weapon or holster is showing and that has worked for me so far.

I saw one today, on the way to the store.

Old guy and his kid walking around the neighborhood. Had his shirt loosely tucked in and the wind was kicking up a bit. pretty hard to miss the big grip.

I spot guys carrying on a fairly regular basis, but you have to understand the background--laid back environment, with a customer base that probably owns more guns per capita than the guys in your local gun shop.

We have Carry-Gun Show-and-Tell every now and then. I'm still not sure how the neighbors in the strip mall feel about that :)

i have seen a few,but i dont think they were realy trying to hide it.used to work in a bar and you seen all thpes of things, actueally had to tell a guy his was totally uncovered, said his revolver was showing,he said he dident have one, lol,i said then, wow thats a cool looking wallet then
