What Was Your Fathers Favorite Firearm ?

My dad had many that I'm sure he would have called his favorites. He sold a few in 1986 to be able to afford a factory engraved Colt 150th Anniversary SAA. It's the engraved "Sampler" with the ivory handles. The thing he really liked about it was when he cut the plastic hammer tie off and then disassembled the revolver. He re-timed the action so the bolt wouldn't scratch the cylinder when it turned.

Then he took it out and shot it! He worked up some .45 Colt loads until he had it hitting right in the middle. He really liked his Sampler. I hope my daughter likes it in a few decades because I'm keeping it secure in my safe for her now. I might have to take it out and shoot it a bit though. My dad would like that.....

My father was a non-gun owner/user. He made the beach at Normandy with no weapon, just a medical bag, and he made it back alive. He had nightmares for most of his life about the things he saw and the lives lost and saved. I lived most of my childhood with my mother. Her father taught me to shoot. I've owned guns most of my life and my kids learned to shoot from me. None of them has ever used a weapon to injure another person.
My favorite firearm is a toss-up; Ruger 10-22 and Hawken-style flintlock in .45. Also a Remington 1858 .44cal cap and ball. There are others I don't talk about.

My father was never much on guns when I was little, I remember he owned an extremely nice Wingmaster 870 with some intricate scroll work on the reciver. I remember him shooting it maybe twice since I was old enough to remember. He has just gotten into plinking withone of his neighbors so he went out and bought a Ruger Mark III stainless.

My father's favorite was a Model 70 in 220 Swift caliber.
He bought it new in 1937 or 38.
It now lives in my vault, still has the old Weaver K-6 on it.
Still shoots under MOA groups.
It accounted for many Kansas coyotes.

Same here. My dad served in the Army, but never used/carried a gun outside of basic. He did take me shooting when I was a youngster though, when he saw that I had an interest in it.

My father was an NRA instructor for many years, he had alot of favorites so its hard to say for sure ,but i know he still talks about his M1 Garand .

Model 70 Winchester, pre 64, .270 caliber preferred, 300 Win Mag second choice.
Remington Model 10 Trap Grade, 12 ga, full choke.
1890 Winchester, 22 short only pump.

Dad owned a lot of guns, those were his favorites.

RIP dad. I miss you.

I'd have to say it was his trusty Remington 572 Fieldmaster that he has owned all of my life.

Dad's favorite was a Remington Nylon 66 .22 rifle Mom bought for him for Christmas at White's Auto Store in Cisco, TX the first year they were ever made 1959 or '60.
I still have it.

My Dad's favorite is undoubtedly my great Grandfather's Fox-Sterlingworth SxS 16 ga.

It is one sweet double.

like shadowmanlc, my dad saw and did too much in WWII to enjoy guns after (Battle of the Bulge survivor). Later in life he did buy a new, in cosmoline Enfield Mk 5 Jungle Carbine, but he never shot it. (I did though):D

Biological father, Ruger M77 in 30-06 and his High Standard Double 9 22 lr revolver.
Stepfather who raised me, well, this is the only gun he had left when he passed on, and it now sits in my posession.
