First gun Remington 870 Express Magnum, oh the days when there were very few 3.5 mags out there. I shortly learned that 3" was just as effective and cheaper... Was 14
Second gun was a '42 K31 (7.5 Swiss). Incidentally the first gun I dilligently handloaded for...

It was a springfield 1911, and I ended up selling it and using the money to buy a sig p228, which I ended up selling before I moved to China. I regret selling that one, and am in the market for a new one now that I'm back in the states.

first gun(s) was a pair of turk mausers, i bought for $90 at a garage sale. I traded one for a little savage mkII that is now my nephews first gun. The other one I gussied up and gave to my dad.

First gun i ever bought was a Bushmaster AR-15. still have it and i love it. My first gun i ever owned was my Ruger M77 270. Still have it also and love that rifle

My first Guns

The first guns that were mine, were given to me Fall 2010.
I was driving an elderly family friend to visit his friends in Dothan Alabama.
We stopped at my aunt and uncle's house in Monticello, FL for dinner. He gave me an Inland M1 Carbine.
He also sorta permanently lent me a beautiful Winchester 1897 16 gauge shotgun that was made in 1905. It was his dad's (my Grandfather's) and matches the 1897 12 gauge shot gun my dad has. It was also made in 1905 and was my great grandfather's! :D
When we arrived in Dothan, my elderly friend gave me a Winchester 67, single shot .22LR.
That little 76 years old .22 can shoot way more accurately than I can, and honestly is so much fun to shoot.
That .30 Carbine rifle is what got me into reloading

The first NEW gun I BOUGHT was a Ruger 10/22 back in late February.

I will be attending gunsmithing school, so I have had to buy bolt action rifles.
In the last 3 weeks I have bought a (poorly aged) K98 for $150, a pristine Yugo M48 Mauser for $200, and a 1903A3 with a stock someone tried to sporterize. I paid $300 for that.

When I move to NC to start classes, the M1 Carbine is staying at home where is will be nice and safe!

My first gun was a Ruger P89 about 15 years ago. It was used but in nearly mint condition. I sold it to a co-worker 3 years ago, but now I wish I had held onto it.

The first gun purchased with my money was my 10/22, when I was 18. My first gun was a 20 gauge pump that my folks gave to me when I was 13 or 14. I still have both and am now teaching my son to shoot with the .22.

Mine was a Savage model 120 single shot .22 rifle when I was 9 for Christmas that year. I still have it some 48 years later. Still as good as new and accurate!!! Oh yea. Don'tcha get all teary eyed when reading about all these good old firearms and what we have aspired to do since then.:D

Mine was a used Smith & Wesson Victory Model, purchased by my father at a hardware store for the princely sum of 15 bucks. No permit required in those days. Just plunk down the cash and walk out with your gun.

.38 Special RNL ammunition was frightfully expensive at 2 dollars a box, and the ol' man...bein' as tight as a banjo string...decided that if I was gonna shoot as much as I liked, it was time to reload. Bein' a tool and die maker, he also made a single-cavity mold that dropped a 150-grain truncated cone bullet with a single lube groove. We used home-cooked lube of 50/50 alox and beeswax, and used a cookie pan to melt it and lube the bullets. He fashioned a cookie cutter to remove the perfectly lubed bullets, and the push-through sizer die was also his own creation.

I shot that old Smith a lot, and sold it a few years after he died for a lot more than he gave for it. I've regretted that move ever since, but at least it went to a friend of mine...so I get to visit it once in a while. It probably hasn't been fired in 20 years.

Memories...

A beautiful blued S&W Model 27 with the 5" barrel. Sold it in less than a year for what I paid for it. Pick your own analogy but it was beautiful to look at, felt great in the hands, everyone admired hit, but it didn't shoot worth a &@*!.

First rifle: Winchester model 67A .22 caliber. I was 14 years old in the mid-50s. I paid about $17 for it on lay away--$5 down and $1 a week until I paid it off. I took it home on my bicycle.

First pistol: S&W 686 .357 caliber. I was 40ish. I paid about $300 for it--I thought I had lost my mind.

I have them both. I usually don't get rid of firearms.

first gun

My first gun was a Bridge Gun Co 410ga made for the shaiply hardeware of St Louis by Cresent firearms,it has a nickel plated receiver, maple stock and forearm,I got this gun when I was 7 years old,I havent shot the gun for forty years, but since it has been restored to its original beauty, new nickel, bluing by simmons guns Olathe Ks,wood by myself with 10 coats of polyurethane,it is a absolute show piece.I also still own this gun,its not worth much by blue book standards, but by my standards it is priceless!

My 1st purchase 25 years ago was a Remington 700 classic 250 savage....great gun. Unfortunately, I sold it to get funds to buy a 30-06 after being convinced by hunting buddies to get a "real gun". I regret it to this day....would love to have that one back.

First Rifles:A Ruger 10/22,Lee Enfield N04..303.
First Shotgun: Remington 870 Wingmaster 28" For clays,at a good price too.
First Pistols:Was going to be a S&W .38,M10 Police,with a 6@ barrel.(Ex Metropolitan Police issue,which was one of a batch,of ex-authorised Firearms Officer guns,which were more or less obsolete then,as they were rapidly being replaced by the Glock 17,at the time-circa mid-90s:)followed by a Colt 1911A1,but the events in 1996 in Dunblane,saw these acquisitions dry-up rapidly.So I just got myself a
:fire:a Ulberti 1862 police with a 6.5" barrel,instead.
