What was your first gun.

I'm not sure. Its one of two. I bought a Mossberg 500 and a S&W model 66 back in the mid eighties on the same day at a gun show. For the life of me I can't remember which one I bought first.

Mine was a Norinco SKS I had my mom buy for me when I was 15. It had a pretty reddish-stained stock. Great rifle... I shouldn't have gotten rid of it.

My first gun was a break barrel .177 cal pellet rifle my dad got for me. Was way better than the daisys my buddys had. (wish I still had it) The first gun I bought myself was a Mossberg 341 I got at Gibsons store. I already owned 6 firearms that were given to me, but when I turned 18 I wanted a bolt action .22. Still have it and it is in my regular rotation when I go to the range.

First gun, my dad gave me at 11, was a NE single shot break open 20ga. I could never hit anything with it, once I missed a cottontail sitting (not running) at 10 yds.

The first I bought was a syn. 870 Express Supermag, first shot out of it powdered a clay, I have carried it for everything from woodcock to deer.

The first gun that was mine, was a birthday gift from my parents when I turned 12 years old if I recall. The gun was a Remington Model 514 22LR single shot that was stolen along with the rest of my dad's collection when I was about 14 years old.

The first gun that I ever bought myself was a Colt Combat Commander just after turning 21 years old.

1947

A Montgomery Ward .22 rifle.................still have it. I still shoot it at least every month and I am now 71. I also have my father in laws Ruger .22 and it was the 45th pistol they made.

Ruger

Ruger offered to buy my father in laws pistol and I refused. It is one of the MOST collectable of all. Last offer was over $4000.00:D

Mine was a Savage 64 semi-auto .22, got it when i was 11 years old. worked my ass off all summer to earn enough for it. I still have it and hope that one day my kids will learn on it (but of course when they are 10/11 they will have to earn the money to get their own rifles)

Ruger Standard model automatic pistol, 6" barrel, circa 1969. I love this pistol. It still gets the most range time. Can't beat a .22 for inexpensive target practice.

First gun I owned was a Ruger Security Six .357 magnum. I went to the gun store in NJ to buy a gun. The shop owner asked what I was looking for and I said a .357. He handed me a Colt Python. Beautiful gun and felt perfect in my hands. Nearly passed out from the price and asked him for something alittle less expensive. He handed me a Dan Wesson, nice but still too high. Next was a Ruger. Bought it for around $350. Shot a couple of hundred rounds through it and kept it for many years. A friend of mine needed a gun for protection and sold it to her (I lived in a gun friendly state at that time). Sold it for what I paid for it. Missed the gun.

NEF 20 ga single shot. Kicked me like a mule at age 8, but taught me how to hit a bird on the first shot ;)

The first Gun I ever bought was an as new but no Box Colt 'Python' long Barrel model in .38 Special.

It was in the mid 1980s, and, was $200.00-odd Dollars at a Pawn Shop.

It was ridiculously accurate and would consistenty permit me to place my shots into very very small groups at any of the distances I shot at, which was usually up to 50 yards.

I had it a few years then sold it for what I was into it for to pay some bills or other during a slow employment period.

Wish I would have kept it.

Ouch, hurts just thinking about it now.

My first gun was was a Marlin Glenfield Mod 60 22LR... I still have it...it still works... It was a pretty decent first gun... I retired it about 15 years ago.. For years I kept track of the number of rounds through it untill I lost track at about 28,000

My first true firearm was a Christmas present in 1966 and it was an H & R Topper single shot 20 gauge.
I lent it to a friend in 1972 for a weekend hunt, not uncommon in those days to lend your gun out to a trusted friend.
But my trusted friend used it in a criminal act and I never saw it again.
The first firearm I bought for myself was in 1973 and it was a Mossberg 385K bolt action 20 gauge.
Lots of squirrels fell to that shotgun.

A Winchester Model 67, .22 cal., single-shot rifle that I received for Christmas in 1957. Still have it, of course, but not for long...a certain grandson will be the new owner at a Christmas when he's old (responsible) enough in the not too distant future. :)

First gun that was issued to me was a Beretta 92G. First gun I ever bought was a Remington 870. Don't have them anymore, but they were both fine guns.

The first gun I ever got was a Mossberg 500 20 gauge that my dad gave me for my first hunting season. I still have it and it puts food on the table every year.

The first I ever purchased with my own money is a $89 SKS when I turned 18. It was my first rifle and I still have it to this day. First handgun was an XD right after they were re-branded by Springfield.

I was never given my own gun before I turned 18. I had shot plenty, I was just never given one to call my own.

When I turned 18, I bought a Mosin Nagant, model 91/30. I bought a spam can of Russian surplus and some other accouterments, and I've really made it my own with a new finish on the wood.

The only downside, sharing it doesn't really work. People that want to shoot it when we go to the range, fire one round and decide that they should have thought twice. :D

The first gun that was "mine" was a youth model 20ga 1100. Got to take it hunting a few times and even managed to bring home a few ducks before my family moved to areas where duck hunting wasn't possible.

But MY first gun, the first gun that I bought with my own money and without consulting my parents was a Sig P228 a few months after I turned 18. (yes, it's legal for ADULTS 18 years or older to buy handguns from private sellers. Can't tell you how many times I've had to explain that to people...so now it's in my sig to try an ward off some of the accusations.)

Many other pistols and rifles have come an gone since then, but my Sig is still here with me. I don't foresee selling it, as I don't ever want to join the leagues of those regretting selling their first guns...
