I've been back on the wheelie wagon for some time now, having replaced my Kel-Tec with a lightweight "J"; (actually a M37 w/bobbed hammer); a 3" M65 because DHart made me and a 4" M65 (looks like a police trade-in) on it's way soon. (Gunbroker: $230 total by the time I pay for transfer-how'd I do?)

I've always liked the looks and feel of the 2-1/2" M66's and M19's but they don't appear to be that much more compact than my 3" M65. I usually shoot .38's anyway and love the look of the 2" M10's and M64's. (Is it weird that I love stainless but the gun I carry in my pocket is blued?)

Anyway, once I get it I can definitely see myself occasionally "packing" a 2" 10 or 64. So, once I find one, what's it gonna cost? Since they are not being mfr'd, I'd expect a little too much, but if a ton were made and they're not that rare, maybe not too bad? (I hope?)

I got lucky and paid $325 + transfer for a used M64-3 3" in excellent condition. Somewhere in that range, I would think, but might go a little higher because snubs seem to.

The model 10 and 64 are still in production IIRC. S&W only halted production of the .357 K-frames. There have probably been more model 10s manufactured than any other revolver in the history of this country, so they arent going to be underrepresented on the used market.

The current (web) catalog shows the M10 only in 4" and the M64 in 3" and 4". I've got those barrel lengths 'covered' and am specifically looking for a 2". I know there's been plenty of 4" M10's made but how common was the 2"? Anyone?

2" seem rarer and I'm looking for a 2" 10 or 64 or 15 myself, very rare around here it seems, I even had trouble finding 4" mod 10's a few years ago locally! I'm not that fond of my 2" mod 12 really for casual shoooting.

I cant' bring myself to spend a lot for a 2" model as I have got model 10's 4" even in recent years for well less than $150. I guess 4" models are much more common though as PD's and security companies are rarely if ever going to buy a 2" version and thus trade in's are usually in 4" or occasionally in older skinny barrel 6" versions.

Much over $300 though seems high to me for a 2" K frame 38spl. $230 OTD is not bad for a 4" mod 65 but 3" seem to bring more of a premium and have a following and while I do not generally like K frame magnums except maybe 2 1/2" 19's and 66's my dad did luck out and get a security company trade in 65-2 4" for $129 last year! I replaced the chewed up slightly bent ejector rod and the pachmayr grips have a gouge but still very good deal in CA of all places.

CDNN had 2" 64 trade-ins from California Dept of Corrections back awhile ago. I got one for $249 if I remember correctly. It was cosmetically challenged but shoots just fine.

Spoke to a nice fellow at CDNN earlier today. They have two CDC-issue M64 snubbies left in stock for $260 a throw. Get 'em while they last.

On the bright side, they somehow still have one hundred FN High-Powers in stock for $399. How is that possible? I thought everyone on this forum had, like, eight of these?!
