Single Six 22lr/22wmr
Colt Series 80
Glock G26
TC Encore rifle with several barrels to cover many calibers
870 pump in 12ga

Im going to throw out the thing about this arsenal for a new shooter and make my list an arsenal for a experienced shooter. (Not professional), experienced is what I am. My wish list...

1. Springfield 1911 .45ACP
2. Ruger GP-100 .357Mag
3. Mossberg Tacticall 12Guage
4. AR-15 5.56
5. Remington700 .308

Now thats serious home defense. It'll be what I'll hole myself up with when the slaves of Obama knock on my door to seize my weapons, rights and freedom. Happy shootin.

1. AR-15, M4 variant 5.56
2. Remington 700P .308
3. Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 12ga
4. Kimber Custom TLE II 5" 1911
5. S&W .460 XVR (useful with either .460 mags, .454 Casull, or .45 Colt, you choose what flavor you like!)

As someone who fired a .460S&W (loaded with full power loads, .454, and .45C) before buying a .454 revolver/lever gun pair I might be biased, but, I'd be hard pressed to justify a .460 in my top 5. I could see the .460 if also had a TC encore (with .460 barrel), though obviously when it came to spending money I went with the revolver+lever gun pair.

Anyway, I think this thread pretty conclusively shows that the minimum practical arsenal has > 5 guns.

5 gun arsenal

Hello friends and neighbors/// RoHoo you read my mind.
#1) 870 wingmaster, pump 12.ga ,extended tube w/ 7 plus 1 shells(wide variety of loads available)

#2) 760 gamemaster, pump 30.06, 4 plus 1 or w/optional 10 round clip plus 1(wide variety of loads available, twin of 870 in action, cleaning...) Add scope of choice.

#3) S&W 586, 6", DA/SA Distinguished Combat Revolver 357/38, 6 shot (variety of loads and cartridges )

#4) Marlin 795 , semi-auto,18" barrel, 22.lr , 10 plus 1 (pouch on stock holds 4 spare 10 round clips and 1 film canister holding 70 rounds) Syn. stock model only weights 4.5 lbs. //Add scope of choice.

#5) Stoger Luger, semi-auto,4'' barrel, 22lr., 11 plus 1

I like the firearm versatility I have collected here./// Included pic of my Buck Master Lite Model 185 great carry/camp knife if you could only have 1. 005guns.jpg

If I could substitute a S&W 638 airweight body guard, 38+P for Stoger 22.lr pistol, I would. //Personally I chose weapons based on ammo versatility and supply in the U.S.A. // 30.06 , 38., 12ga., 22lr. seem to be most abundant here. Mainly because of nation wide popularity for decades. // As you see, I may be due for an upgrade on the old reliable weapons you see before you, but I'm content for now.

Interesting thread ..content
