What would make you give up your guns?

So when we get there do we have access to guns from all time? And do we have to get a permit of some sort?

If you can't have any gun you want and all the ammo you can shoot, red tape free, you didn't get to Heaven:D

If my health got to the point where I couldn't safely operate them, that would probably do it. However, I smoke so I doubt I will live that long anyway.

Other than that, death. I'd like to take at least one pair with me. I dont have a pair yet, but I probably will at some point...

I like the Glock pic, but Glocks just have no soul. ;)

Other than death, it would take a personal command from God to get me to give mine up. :scrutiny: I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Never happen.
If there is a God, he is a "gun person", the nicest kind of people.:)

I would suspect he would be into long range rifle shooting, 10, 15 miles.:D

But how would you know if He's cheating?

If somone that I know is in dire need and really needs one, I'd "give one up" to them in a heartbeat. Other than that, the whole "Voice of God" would make me (and some politician banging on a podium on TV doesn't count).

Maybe if there was some disaster and they were all damaged beyond repair... nah. The AK'd live through it, I'm sure.

To be honest if divine intervention could promise me noboby could ever hurt me or my kith and kin, I'd gladly give them over of my own volition.

Free will being a very real part of daily life? Never.

and certainly not "for the children", I hate kids ..... Kidding, kidding:neener: :neener:

Seriously, guns in my house are like hammers they serve a limited yet vital purpose. I don't shoot for fun so much as prowess and I only truly have one use for them. It's a tool I'll prolly never need but, if I need it, I'll need it BADLY (to paraphrase W.C.) so the likelyhood I'd give it up is about parallel to hammers to me.

I'll not do it just 'cause folks bang fingers, or lose hands for that matter.

nothing..when the time comes to put them down, they will be given to my son and whats left to anybody needing one. I'll take 1 with me to the next world.

Apart from death, the only thing I can think of is serious mental degeneration. But considering that I'm probably not a great arbiter of my own sanity (and I REALLY don't care to hear anyone else's opinions on that subject, thank you very much,) let's just say death.

And yet, when they say, "just the hi-cap mags" or "just the shotguns with short barrels", so many folks say "OK, I still have my (whatever)".

Not many folks bitched when they buggered the full-auto crowd. possibly because they offered McClure-Volkner as gun owner "protection". Now Sten guns go for mid 4 figures. But, your deer rifle is "safe" right? As long as you leave it neutered in the trunk of your car, and stay on the main highway.

Lots of folks say "Molon Labe" like some sort of magic incantation. However, we keep letting our rights slip away, one NRA approved 'compromise' at a time. If we keep compromising, we will soon be compromising to keep our photos of toy guns, while giving up the pictures of real ones. And, if we do not start fighting for the other guy's guns, none of us will have any.

Something like Burt said,

You have been giving up your guns and gun rights all your life and you will continue to do so.
In some states it's so bad it's a sick joke.

No one is going to break down your door and demand all your guns. It's too risky for "them" and they don't have to.

They will just eat us alive one little bite at a time and there's nothing you can do about it.

Face it, this is as good as it gets for gun owners and NOTHING is being done to get rid of the antigun laws. We are even having trouble getting rid of the AWB.

From your cold dead hands??
Spread this out over a few years.

So when do you say enough and fight and who do you fight?

When they take your machine guns? Oh too late.

How about when they take some "bad" rifles and pistols? Too late again.

How about if a law is passed against all semi autos? Are you going to shoot someone yet?

Now we want all long guns that hold over two rounds, no one needs more than two rounds, but look we don't want your revolvers and 22 rifles.
You are still a free citizen. You can have revolvers, double barrel shotguns and 22 rifles.

No problem, we are a lot better off than England.

Oh BTW, those revolvers and 22 rifles must be kept at the police station.

No problem you can still keep your double 12 at home to protect your family.
Only 5 shells in the house though but you really only need 2.

Oh, now there is a little $5 a month gun owner's fee (that will go up to $500 a month in three years).

Gee, I can't afford that, the kids need shoes, I'll just have to turn in this old shotgun.

No problem, ammo is $50 a box anyhow.

Too late, you ain't going to shoot now.:)

I sell almost my entire collection once or twice a year. It's the only way I can afford to buy new firearms. Plus I have no place to store the old ones.

I would give up all my firearms save one or two for creditors, I suppose, or if I moved cross-country. But selling or having firearms taken to pay debts isn't the same as losing the right to keep and bear arms.

I'm not going to shoot anyone over gun control; I'll just (continue to) ignore the laws that prove too oppressive. Eventually, they'll either have to send someone to get my guns, or they'll decide I'm too much trouble and write me off.

I strongly recommend this course of action. Get comfortable disobeying the law now, and you won't have to play catch-up when it becomes a matter of day-to-day survival. ;)

I personally believe that people that live in gun friendly states will be safe for quite some time. They might have problems from the federal level, but there are relatively safe at the State level. People that live in CA, NJ, NY, and other antis states have more to fear from the state police then they will ever have to fear from the Feds.

... when I can exchange them for a rechargeable Phaser with *all* the settings: Heat, Stun, Kill, Disintegrate (leaves no messy BG remains to puzzle the cops). ;)
