What would you do...livin in the PRK

Say, hypothetically of course, that you live in Oakland, CA. A city known a) for its violent crime and b) refusal to issue CCW permits to ANYONE. The only mark on your record is a speeding ticket from 6 years ago.

You have been assaulted twice since you moved here. The first time a group of three men armed with bats and knives accosted you on the way to your car and made off with your wallet. The second time a man with a knife took your wallet, and cell phone while you were walking.

You have applied for CCWs from the city and county and been denied both times.

Would you :
a) stop going in public alone and at night

b)follow the letter of the law and arm yourself as allowed ie knife or pepper spray?

c) would you educate yourself on the effective and responsible use of a handgun and carry it illegally

I would, if possible, move to a more CCW friendly county, or state. I am working on this, but at the moment I remain in San Diego. My utopias include Las Vegas, NV and Flagstaff, AZ. For you, I would reccommend southern Oregon. Very pretty, if you like trees .

D.) Pack your stuff and move to a more gun-friendly, less dangerous state (Oregon, Idaho,anywhere in the South....).

I grew up just outside Oakland, just up in the Oakland hills, and I honestly can see no reason why anyone would want to live in Oakland.

I knew everyone would say move. For the sake of discussion, I will let you guys in on a little secret. The hypothetical dude happens to be my old roommate. He loves his job so he can't move too far. The surrounding counties are equally unforgiving. Also, he is taking Tae Kwon Do classes.

Carry a Glock 27 in a Smartcarry setup. No one will ever know until you deploy it in self defense. At that point, you will have legal problems. But, you won't be dead.
