Under that, there would be citizens without arms who would be denied their right under the Second Amendment. Therefore, that law would not remain standing.
My "get real" comment was not about the "what would you do" question, but about what to expect from folks if such a ban was ever enacted. Look at Prohibition. How well did that work. How about the war on drugs? Banning the transfer of firearms in this country does not mean they will not be made anywhere else, or even that American Companies would stop producing them....only that there could be no new transfers. Guns would still find their way into the country and still be available for sale. Then there is 3-D printing.
Yes some folks will sell their soul to get a coupla more guns. Some folks will raid grandpas safe to sell what he has and hope he don't look in there for a while. Same old crap that has always gone on, just a different toilet.
One thing, I never mentioned that there would be any restrictions on ammo, so as long as the guns exist, let's assume that ammo would be available.
As for transfers to heirs, let's say in one scenario that your guns die with you and can't be inherited. (Puts a whole different light on the "investment" angle.)
Seems to me that the government would have to shutter all gun mfgr. all FFl's before
they would stand a chance of cutting off gun sales. Thats just NOT going to happen.
