What would you vote for the most accurate(non 1911) 45 Auto out of the box

On the one hand, asking about the accuracy achievable out of non-1911s is snicker worthy in its own right, but I have seen a few impressive SIG 220s in my day and I saw a M&P45 at the range the other week that could earn a "accuracy bang for the buck" award.

So are you pretty much saying that a non 1911 can not be accurate?

No, that wasn't what I was saying, or even what I said.

What I was funning about was that the OP had to exclude the 1911 from this discussion because it's the most capable model, so essentially the OP was asking "Who comes in at a distant second?"

If he hadn't excluded the 1911, it would have easily become the topic of this thread.

Most accurate .45 I ever shot was a 4506. It was a range gun.
I actually shot it more accurately than the Wilson Combat CQB I shot a week later.

Why would a 1911 be more inherently accurate than any other solidly designed and built .45?

Sorry, the "snicker" part was what me think that.:) I am the OP and tis why I excluded 1911"s as there are two many models, modifications, triggers, barrels and $$$$ involved.:)

But in agreement, a well designed 1911 with all the goodies would be hard the beat.

My older Dan Wesson Pointman 7(bought used for less than most Mil Spec models) will out shoot me and all my other 45's. The Sig 220 is pretty damn close though.

Was just trying to see what stock non 1911's would come close. The CZ, XD, MP, Glock etc.

Another vote for the Smith & Wesson Model 945-mine is more accurate than most 1911 pistols I've ever shot, with the exception of my Colt Series 70 Gold Cup.

I don't think the Sig guys (no disrespect intended) have ever shot a CZ-97. I have a Sig P-220/45 as well as CZ-97.

The CZ-97 will "out-accuracy" the Sig @ 25 yards in my hands.

I like CZ's My CZ75 9 mm is very accurate but they are a bit large for my hands.

Sig 220, Glock G20, and the USP .45c all are capable of match grade shooting if you do your part. The guns can outshoot the capabilities of most of us. The Glock is unreal accurate for a $500.00 gun.

MY XD 45c is very accurate. Better than any Glock, S&W or Sig I've ever owned. Maybe I just have better feel for it, but maybe not too.

I like the XD's also. Have a 9.40 and 45. Point and shoot or "plug and play":)

Thinking of getting the 45 Tactical. I wish they came with better sights, after a while the tiny rear dots get dity and they are useless, and unless you have a sight pusher tool they ain't coming off to change them yourself.

a friend of mine has the xd tactical model and that thing is a tack driver, i was very impressed with how accurate is was.

IMHO, For the money any of the XD's are hard to beat. Plus they all have fully supported, regular rifling barrels for reloading sake.

My EAA full size Witness shoots the best for me of all of the 45s that I have owned. I am an M&P fan in 9mm, and hope to add the 45 soon. If it out shoots my Witness for me, it will be money very well spent.

I have a M&P 45 FS. It shots great and since I've added the Apex sear, the groups have shrunk as the trigger improved dramatically.
