Here's the question: what's your favorite .45 automatic, excluding the 1911.

I already know many will say that if it's not a 1911, it's not a .45, and to suggest otherwise is blasphemy  but I ask you to suspend reality for a moment and judge the relative merits of the other designs.

For the sake of brevity I'm only listing the full-size models so if you really like a compact version of the fullsize just vote for the fullsize model (i.e. Sig-245 = Sig-220; Glock-30 = Glock-21).

And please don't vote "other" and then post "1911" even if you hate every other .45 ever made. this isn't "1911's vs. the world"; I'm just trying to get a handle on the popularity of other designs.

Thank You

Actually I think a CZ-97B would be neat. I like the CZ ergos & the 9mm 75B I had was a quality piece. Sig P2xx series guns are serious quality, but feel funny to me.

That said... well, you know.

OOPS!

Sorry, I meant to make this thread a poll but didn't click the poll button. :uhoh: Mods, if you're out there please either delete the thread and i'll restart it or post instructions on how to fix it, if possible. If that's too much trouble then I'll just roll with it.

Thanks as always.

You mean they chamber guns other than 1911's in 45 acp? Wow.......

JK, my favorite other than the 1911 would be a S&W M25. Wheel gun, and wrong for the forum, but it is my favorite.

My vote goes to the HK USP Compact .45acp My extended shooting experience with many other quality and highly popular models is limited, often by nothing more than perceived ergonomics (and a blonde's fashion sense, I suppose).

For me, the HK is ideal (Susan loathes it, BTW - for her, there is no other .45 auto than a quality 1911, and full-size, please {and run if she finds MIM parts in it!}).

Custom CZ97B. Fast becoming my favorite CZ. Glossy blue finish like
an old time S&W or Python.. low recoil and amazing accuracy..
Adjustable nights and Hakans make it even better.

Workmanship is superb. Better than some SIGs i've handled of late.
The 97B slide feels like it is on rollers. IF the gun wasn't CZech, i'd
swear it was made in Germany. In my quest to replace my aging
CZ75s...i went thru alot of CZ models. The big 97B fits me best
of all and is the best made in my opinion.

I've never owned one, but my vote goes for the CZ97. I have big hands so I imagine it would fit just fine and the fit and finish is rumored to be nothing short of superb.
BTW- of the one that I have owned the Glock 30 woul be my favorite by far...

Hello. Of the ones I've shot a lot, SIG-Sauer P220, but those CZ's are VERY nice. I will probably wind up with one as the darned things group so well, at the ones I've shot.

Best.

Probably the 625.

And I don't hate the G21, G36, 220 or the Republic Arms Patriot. And I'd like to like the PT145 but... I don't know... That's a lot of cracked frames to forget about.

Zach S, you bring up an interesting side question, namely, are the Para-Ordinances too different to be considered a true 1911 and thus eligable for consideration in this thread. Can a 1911 be double-stacked, double action, and hammerless.

What are everyone's thoughts?

I'm a big fan of the S&W 3rd Gens. - I think they're some of the best values out there. I suppose I like the 4506 and the 4583 the best of the lot.

I really liked 10-ring's HK Expert 45. A little largish for my paws and while I shoot it as accurately as my 92G, I don't shoot it as efficiently. I still like it though

My KZ45 was an excellent pistol but the ergonomics just didn't work for me.
