Whats a Good Gun for a Group Buy?

This is what I think:

It should be an item that is on the "kind of" expensive side because if it's a lower priced weapon, how much of a discount could we really get?

With that being said, I'd go for something Kimber or Bushmaster.

Looks like we have some Bushy, Beretta, Ruger, and Marlin fans.

Well heres the question, ya'll say Marlin is good and we can change calibers but..

If they want a Marlin 1895 in whatever, can I get a Marlin 336 in lets say .30-30? Or in .22, or even an autoloader?

No Beretta Storm, I already have one. :neener:

I vote for the Kimber Eclipse, seems it is pretty high priced that at dealer price, it should be a pretty good deal. Would prefer the 4" version though just for variety sake.

Would say Ruger P345, but they are 1. New, and 2. Should drop in price pretty low soon anyways.

Marlin lever gun - preferably in .30-30 but would certainly entertain other calibers. :D

oooh, edited to add preferably in .30-30 or .22. :D :D

So far I dont think there has been a bad choice in this list yet :)

My top 5 choices would be:

Auto Ordnance M1 carbine
Beretta Storm 9mm
Bushmaster .22LR upper only
Marlin levergun in .357
Nice AK Varient

How about .50 Beowulf uppers?:D

How about some Ruger .22 MarkII or Single Six?

I'm thinking lower cost here since more people could join in on the fun!

I can give you one suggestion, that has happened where I am.

My local gun shop has had success with buying used lots of guns from police departments.

3 examples.

they bought
- 30ish 38 and 357 revolvers sold for 200 to 400
mostly smiths but a few colts (1 python even)

:D

- 50ish s&w 5906's from the University of Houston? Police department
sold for 350 including 2 pre-ban mags and holster etc.

- ar-15s,... although currently LEO, in a few weeks they will be able to sell them to the public,.. they are the shorty versions with telescoping stocks, etc.

you may consider doing the same thing.

good luck

WildwaitingAlaska, if I can find an affordable local FFL I plan on taking that RAMI off your hands.

Add one more for:
EAA Biatholon
CZ 97B

Plus add:
One of the new CZ pistols if you can get your hands on them.

Stainless DPMS AR-15 lowers. Retail on these are high ($350) but I know your cost is MUCH lower. Make mine silver :)

Oly Arms WSSM uppers. Only owner I've found over at ARFcom says he gets 1/2 MOA out of the box and the barrel hasn't worn at all after 4 months. Not sure how much he shoots out of it. I've been wanting a WSSM for varmint shooting and this to me would seem to be the ultimate rig and people wouldn't have to worry about FFLs.

If it were me, I would stick to pieces that most of us could afford. 4 digit firearms are nice, but no way most of us could swing one.

My vote goes to:

1911s - any mil surps
good c&r mausers or MNs - again, big lot = good price
any LEO lots, Barretas, Glocks, S&W revos, Ruger revos = again, big lot = good price

Just a though, If you were to get your hands on 100 or so of anything and could get them at 75% of what the going rate is. Many of us would just be tickled pink.

I'm tossing my vote in for Marlin lever guns, preferably in .357 for myself.

Y'all do a considerable amount of customizing to Marlin lever-guns, so I can only imagine you can get decent prices on them. Also, anyone who purchases one from you would then have the opportunity to have you do some custom work to theirs. Things like the Big Loop Lever, a scout scope base, aluminum follower, ghost ring sights, and a Trigger Happy Kit could all be added to the rifle. That'd be the cat's meow.

Frank

Well since I will be buying one September 15th or so anyway I am going to have to say a Busmaster Collapseable stock lower or collapseable stock, flashhider having, bayonette lugging full on Bushy Rifle in celebration of the AWB death, fingers crossed.

Other than that I could possibly get on board for a nice Marlin Lever in .357 magnum. Either the full size cowboy or the little carbine. I really like the carbine. :D

My two cents.

Chris
