WHats required for me legally on a SBS?

I probably posted this in the wrong section, in the NFA forum. What will I need to legally own a SBS? I want to build it. I had in mind maybe a SAIGA S12, and shorten the barrel, etc. What will the steps required be? Thanks guys.

Assuming your state laws allow you to own one you need to fill out what is commonly called a Form 1, pay $200 for the tax stamp, and wait.

When you get your Form 1 back with the tax stamp attached you may build it. You will need to have the receiver engraved with your name and location.

Thats the very short version.

State allows, after a couple of hours of reading, I am not sure I have either the knowledge or tools to modify the thing to get it to run right. I would like to tinker on it, but I don't know too much about the gas system and or how to modify it to run right.... I appreciate the general knowledge. The BATFE site is very difficult to translate..
