Whats the deal with Taurus

My Taurus 605 is a good reliable gun. In fact it's my second one. The first having been sold to finance a gun for my wife.
The 605 has the distinction of getting me out of a potential armed robbery by two Mexican gang punks. The vermin were getting ready for the kill then backed off when they saw the little J-frame on my hip!! Apparently, for them, that day was not a good day to die!!

Calling a Taurus a "J Frame" is like calling your Camaro a "Carrera"

As it is though, they are a sub-par gun with a mainstream price tag.

No, I disagree. I paid less than $400 for my 44 snubnose a few years ago.
