What's Your Bedside Gun? Why?

A Sig P250 compact in 9mm, light on the rail and spare mag close by sits on my nightstand. I'm single and don't get many visitors so there is always a gun nearby. I'm sitting in my recliner as I type this and there is a Kahr CT9 within arms reach and a Beretta Pico in my pocket. There's a Colt SF-VI in a desk drawer in the next room.

Sig Sauer P226 Navy with a Streamlight TLR 1S mounted to it. When I selected this as my bedside gun, it was because I was carrying a Sig P226 as my EDC. I then moved to a slightly more compact P229, and finally to my current Walther P99 for the lighter weight and similar DA/SA firing system. Anyway, The P226 remains my bedside gun because I shoot it well and have plenty of trigger time with it to be confident with it.

My bedside handgun usually changes a few times a year but I think my Glock 19X will probably reside there for a while. I just love the way this gun shoots and how precise I can shoot it with fast strings of fire. Also 19+1 rounds of HST 9mm+p should be enough for almost any home defense situation, if not I was probably outmanned/outgunned in the first place. Plus the wife has a sig p320 compact with 15+1 of the same ammo on her bedside as well. I don’t know anybody who finds potentially 36 rounds of 9mm+p being fired in their direction in close quarters desirable. That’s just how I look at it.

My EDC, everything else is secured. Situation permitting, I'm a few seconds away from a Kel-Tec Sub2000 w/ a 33 round mag.

9mm XD 4" with Streamlight TLR-1 HL light. (very bright)
Shoots well, and if I had to use it I would rather it be in "jail" than some of my more expensive pistols.
I could use a .357 or a .45 but I am quicker shot to shot with the 9mm and if it doesn't stop the threat, time to retreat to the safe for something larger. (if I can)

Glock 17 with a night sights and a laser. If I get out of bed a 12 ga pump shotgun is one step away. Why the Glock? Because it is reliable, has a rail for the laser, is too bulky for everyday carry for me and I have a 17L to shoot for fun so the 17 doesn't need to ever be anywhere except waiting by the bed.

Within reach is a CZ 75 P-01. I use it instead of any one of several other guns with higher capacity because it's unfortunately the only one I have with a rail for a laser. Once I tried the green laser I immediately knew that I'll never feel that a handgun is properly equipped for HD use at my house unless it has a laser on it (and mine will be green).
