Lets post up our best buy of 2007 with a pic. Did ya find a gem through a friend? Sniff one out at a gun show? Auction? Pawn shop? Retail?

Here is mine.

Gun: Sig Sauer 210.

Where: Gibraltor trade center in Michigan

Paid: ??? bucks

Story: I would have bought a 100 of them if he had more. I love it when gun dealers dont know what they have for sale. So I ask a dealer if he had any old Sig Sauer's for sale? He says...hmmmm how old he asks? I reply old as you have. He digs around under the case then in some large boxes for a few minutes and pulls this Excalibar out and blows a 1/4 inch of dust off it and hands it to me. I see its a Sig 210 and almost faint. I ask what he wants for it and he says I dont know I have had it forever. I havent put it out in the case in a long time. I say why not? He says its old and every one wants the rails and high cap mags...We both laugh. So again I press how much? He adjusts his hat and says will ya give five hundred for it. I ask him if he takes Visa? He answers yes and 5 minutes later its mine.

no pics but best deal in 2007 can also be had in 2008 .what i bought is a new saiga 7.62x39 for 292.00 OTD. thats a pretty good deal and you can always buy ammo for it for 25 cents a pop. approx.

Let me try. I saw an ad for "reloading gear" on craigslist. I called up the guy, he wants $250 for a progressive press and some other junk, said he hadn't touched it in 10 years. Remarried and his new wife wants the stuff gone. I had to unbolt and haul everything out myself. I wound up with a used Dillon 450 upgraded to 550, 6 die sets, Dillon tumbler, RCBS RS2 single stage, RCBS 5-10 scale, RCBS powder measure, and a large rolling lockaway FULL of tools and gadgets, as well as 40lbs of brass, thousands of primers and bullets, and several pounds of powder. All of the original documentation including several books were there, all the receipts were from 1984. Got it home, cleaned it up, it runs like a dream. On top of that he handed me several ammo cans full of ammo.

I asked if he wanted more for it, and he said he'd rather see it get a good home and see some use. He even called me a few days later to see if I got it set up right. Hell of a guy. :)

DAMN! I'm freaking jealous! I am going to have to start hunting craigs list now! Ooop off I go!

I scan it once or twice a day, usually in the sporting good section. Earlier this year I traded a JLD PTR-91 for a NIB P229 in 40sw, an SA-85 and $300. I found a couple 22s under $100, and a nice bow as well. Best way to find deals is doing a lot of looking.

... and make sure you sit on a small chunk o' change just in case. I found a Taurus 6" 357, 7 round cylinder, like new for $250, and had to pass the deal to a buddy because I didn't have the cash at the time. I kick myself whenever he offers to let me shoot it.

Hard to say. Made three purchases at $300.
Same day I bought a Sig P220 and a CZ27 that is in mint condition with Nazi proofs. Turned out the CZ had a very low serial number and books at three times what I paid.
One I like best and carry all the time now is a Tanfoglio (EAA Witness) .45 that is a tack driver. Even came with three hi-cap mags.
Think they tied for best buy of '07 for me...

TNT.45, you got one helluva buy. Congrats on a fine gun. Why can't I ever find a deal like that?

I had a couple that I thought were good.

A Ruger 10/22 DSP (Walnut Stock) very lightly used with a Simmons 4x scope. About the same price as a NIB 10/22 carbine with a birch stock.

And three Chinese type 53 Mosin-Nagants for $51.00 each ($35.00 + $16.00shipping).

Handguns. A Glock 19 NIB and a Colt 1991A1 Commander. $1,000 for both.

I bought four stripped AR recievers (two Rock River, two DPMS) for $100 each. All were purchased as pistols recievers and one is currently being built into a .50 Beowulf pistol.

We all dream of a deal like TNT's. My best find of 2007 had to be the P7 PSP I found at Gander Mountain. There it was sitting in the display marked $550. What made the deal so unexpectedly sweet was the four magazines that came with it. It is in perfect condition, KF dated (1995), the piston looked new. It made my year.

A very abused Delta elite... I won't say how much, but lets just say the cost of the Private party transfer and the DROS fees were more then what I paid for the gun.

I'm going to spend a little bit more on it...

My only gun last year was my M&P .40, its great I love it and it is the first gun I bought myself. I have promoted it on so many threads its getting old now.

I think I snagged my P3AT last year. Best buy, though, was at the Chantilly gun show in July.

Got a Mossberg Maverick with a 28" trap barrel, full choke. Private / off-paper sale. Paid less than $250 for it, cash. It's the black polymer version, so if I ever want to throw a tacticool barrel on it, I can be properly Bubba.

I did have a couple of trappers at Bull Run give me some crap about the full choke for wobble-trap. Comments ran along the lines of, "So... You bringing a rifle, next week?". :D

I have to say my best buy in 2007 was a Sig 2022 9mm with Siglite Nite Sights. The pistol has been my go to home pistol, I have carried it a few times, and its definetly a shooter. I use it more than any of my other pistols, its the sleeper in the Sig line-up thats for sure.
