I have this many different calibers for one reason! I love the guns, no other reasons . if you love it who cares if its pratical, I can buy one gun that will shoot all of these calibers in handgun and or rifle but who wants that really ask me for my AK or M1 Garand oe exspeciall my AR-10 you can have them right after you kill me . Its whatever you like man don't let anyone tell you different, as long as your careful and responsible, have at it.

P.S. I think I am leaving out a caliber? :banghead::confused:

If I had to pare it down to just one centerfire, I'd probably keep the 30/30, as it will do anything I will realistically ever need a rifle to do, but I'd be kicking and screaming before I gave up the 7.5 Swiss, as that's the one I enjoy shooting the most.

I have all of these calbers and a few firearms lyeing to shoot them as well

I am a beginning collector. I plan on having many more calibers. This is what I have now:

22lr
7.62x39
.308
30-30

Calibers that I plan to get soon:

.223
.303 British

Calibers that I plan to get on day:

.50 cal

In addition to:
.22 LR
7.62x39
.303
8mm Mauser,

30-06 (Garand), in about a week.

Have not hunted, therefore only military rifles (other than .22) appeal to me.
I always buy the ammo before the rifle. Why? Notice how surplus .303 mostly vanished (Samco: April '09), then recently came back at more than double the former price, non-reloadable.

Gets what I need done. I don't even shoot the Mosin anymore...

I hear ya about cutting down on ammo inventory by having fewer calibers. It gets to be a lot of work at the reloading bench sometimes. But the diversity is just plain fun and interesting. It would be difficult to whittle down more than a couple of calibers from my modest collection.

Reason I own so many is because I simply couldn't help myself. I like diversity in my firearms.

I like them, I shoot them all as often as possible. Id be fine with any one of them if i could have only one but hey i can have more so why not?

I've got more than I want but it's my fault. If I had to start to prune, here are the ones I would keep

45 ACP
12 gauge
.308
30-30 (l love my lever action too much)
.223

On the fence are
22 LR (My time is the most limiting factor these days so ammo cost per outing isn't my biggest factor).
9 mm - I could live without it but I do have one pistol (identical to a 45 I own) that has nearly paid for itself for the cost savings in ammo alone ... but I don't shoot quite as much now as I did a few years ago

There is nothing else that I would gnash my teeth over.

Having said that, I don't plan to getting rid of anything. I just make sure to keep enough ammo in stock (beyond what I consider the minimum self defense number) so if I want to go the range for a long weekend of shooting, I've got it.

7mm Mag Rem. 700
45-70 Guide gun

9MM Luger - CZ75B

I have too many X[

Everyone should have plenty of calibers to decide what they like! You won't know until you try them on an extended basis. Nothing has hit the fan yet, so I see no reason to keep my caliber footprint small.

I consider mine very, very small compared to most of people.

  • 10 gauge

  • .177 pellet if that counts :neener: Extremely fun and cheap even if it doesn't. It has enough "ooomph" to make a 22 "race" target swing so backyard plinking is a real hoot with the girlfriend or my son.

I'll buy an AK-47 soon, so add 7.62x39 below 7.62x51 probably
