That's Damascus steel (it's actually pattern welded, Damascus steel dosn't exist anymore but it looks just the same so that's what it is commonly called). It's made by welding thin sheets of varying types of steel and iron together to form a billet, the pattern changing depending on how the bladesmith shapes the sheets as he welds. The billet is then shaped and ground into a blade.

Lots of Damascus patterns out there, and also Stainless Damascus, which this is:

I bought that piece of steel at Blade 2005 (called Odin's Eye) and gave it to Trace Rinaldi and he made his model called the LEO out of it. Also has Carbon Fiber handles and mosaic pins. The steel alone was $220 - stainless Damascus is not cheap!

wood

:neener: hey Don, what kind of wood is that? On that knife you bought I mean. Nice, If you break the handle on mine again, Can I have that?

And to think Don I got to see it finished before you did ! :D

Trace's Carbon Fiber handles rock. I have a love hate with carbon fiber , I love when someone else puts it on a knife , I hate when I have to.

You ain't made a leather sheath for that yet Don ?

another of my favs... bottom knife , Blackwood Henchman ( top knife belongs to a friend and its a Blackwood Curr )

Everyone at the Vegas Show seems to have seen it before I did! :scrutiny:

No, never made a sheath. I'm never going to use it - I just can't. It's by far the best and nicest knife I have!

Steve, I don't even have a clue how he gets that F-22 Carbon Fiber, which is what it is. He somehow gets the remnants where they make parts for the new jets, and it's truly nasty to work with. You get Ironwood!

I'd still kill for a Henchman, maybe the favorite all of the knives I've seen except for Loveless.

I hear ya Don , pretty much like my damascus M.Strider WP NM , cant bring myself to use it , however my Henchman has made numerous appearances at steak houses across the Vegas Valley.

sometimes its just to hard to pick my favorite... gotta have one for every day of the week right ? top shelf of the safe :D

* 2nd , 3rd , 4th and 5th from the left in the back row were made by me.

Im just kidding Don, Im lucky to get ironwood. By the way, we have some pups being born in two weeks. Rotts. Father and mother are hard and stable. since you like short haired dogs. And a female should be this side of 80lbs. I will send you pics. :)

Cold Steel First Edition Tanto... bought it as my hunting knife when I was 18 or so.. still use it today.

Or the good old everyday Swiss Army Knife.. the new serrated blades are wicked and they lock too.
