What's your favorite pocket nine?

I have a Kahr PM9 and a Robrbaugh R9s. By and large the R9s is the easiest to carry. The Kahr is more fun to shoot though. I suppose I'm fortunate that I have both at this time. So I get to choose. :)

Another for the R9 from Rohrbaugh - mine (in a pocket holster from K&D) goes everywhere I go - is so light even loaded that it doesn't pull down sweats. Yeah, it's $$$, but I've never owned a finer pistol in 40 years...you get what you pay for, at least in this case.

The PM9 and the R9s both have done very well in this thread, considering you own both models, would you be so kind as to spend some extra time to give a more comprehensive comparison of the two.

Thank you for your consideration.

My Kahr PM9 is awesome... such a pleasure to take when I want to keep things really minimal size-wise and weight-wise. Mine is stone reliable and so easy to pack, I almost forget it's on me. No holster... I just mexican carry at about 4:30 o'clock inside my jeans waistband while wearing a sturdy belt... stays put and comfy too.

Carried it that way it tonight on a first date... when my date put her arm around me under my long wool overcoat she felt something back there and when she asked what it was, I told her it was my "pager". She knew exactly what I meant by that and smiled happily (we had already talked about the fact that one of my hobbies is guns and that I have my CCW. Being a good republican, she said "great! I like to shoot too." Gotta love a beautiful republican woman who understands these kinds of things! :D

The Kahr PM-9 is a sweet, sweeet little 9mm launcher that carries like a .380 (.380 - a caliber I will not rely on for defense!)

What's it like to shoot one of these ultra-compact 9mm's. I can't help but wonder what the recoil would be like in a gun so small and light!!

Can you use +P rounds?? For self-defense I'd think you would probably want as much power as possible and up close where legitimate exchanges occur perhaps the recoil is not that important?

I had a Rohrbaugh and now have a Kahr PM9. The PM9 is much more shootable and isn't that much bigger. Plus, it's half the cost. I would vote for the PM9.

R9s & PM9

I took my R9s and PM9 to the range yesterday.
Used a modified Uncle Mikes pocket holster for both.
Fit and finish feels better on the R9.( R9 )
The R9s feels better and is less noticable in the pocket.( R9 )
Both have 6 round mags.( PM9=R9 )
PM9 has night sights and are easy to see.( PM9 )
Shooting both with WWB, WOW you know your shooting somthing when
you have the R9 in your hand. The PM9 is pleasant to shoot.( PM9 )
Acuracy with both at 15' was acceptable.( PM9=R9 )
Cost is clear.( PM9 )
Kewlness factor, well, I like the R9s.( R9 )
Hope this helps.

Sorry, forgot to take side by side photos. Will do that and post them.

First and only S&W auto I own the great little 3913 . Unlike my 1911's I see no reason for another its a great pistol if you looking for a small 9mm. Of course if another comes along at the right price I sure it would have a new home.

Fastbolt, How do you like the CS9? I like the ergonomics and S&W autos in general. I do not know anyone who has had one or found any writeups. Thanks Bill.
Let me add to Fastbolt's very detailed reply by saying that CCW Magazine recently had a detail write-up on the CS9 and it was very favorable.Personally speaking, I'll take the 3913 over the CS9.

at what sn# did Kahr start making the PM9 right?

they had a severe issue with barrel/hood peening due to inferior metal or the process of it...how does one know when they see a PM9 on the shelf if its the lemon variety or the peach?

It would have to be my KelTec P11.....since it is my only "pocket nine". I have three different "pocket guns" though.

A KelTec P11, a Taurus PT-145 and a 2" hammerless Ruger SP-101.

I was unsure whether or not I was going to like carrying my Glock 26 when I fiirst got it. I've since bought a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster and some large pocketed cargo pants (perfect timing, I needed some new pants anyway) and I can say that I really like the setup a lot better now.

Pocket carry is great, I don't think I could ever live with an IWB setup. :barf:
