Whats your longest shot made with a Pistol

my first shot I ever took with my Colt 1911 I hit a prairie dog at about 75 yards. Never hit the broad side of a barn after that.

We were out pheasant hunting. For grins, I carried my then-brand-new Glock 26 just in case there would be an opportunity to shoot it. When we were taking a break, my brother noticed a coyote in a nearby plowed field about 1/4 mile away.

Well, he looked too peaceful so I decided to put some excitement into his life. I lined up and put something like 10 degrees up on the pistol and emptied the magazine slowly. Much to everyone's surprise I came within 20 feet of hitting him, judging by the dirt splash. Missed it by that much - it would have been the shot of a lifetime.

45acp factory kimber sites 100 yards 18" steel 1 to range and the rest will ring
put the red dot on it and i can do the same with the 12" plate.

many guns are capable, S&W m60 5", CZ 52, Sig Trailside with L&G 2moa reddot
does the 8" gong well.

my new to me p7m8 is on target with the 12" and getting more than not with the 8"

life is too short to waste time throwing lead away with crappy guns.

1858 new army police .36 cal cap and ball 75 yards with a 10 MPH cross wind. 6 shots, all hit the target, 3 hits COM. Target B-27 silhouette.

Wild Bill Hickok shot Davis Tutt in the heart at the same distance during a gun fight over a card game and a women.

Wild Bill was a much better shot then I. That paper B-27 wasn't throwing any lead my way.

I have a T/C contender with a 14" .223 scoped barrel. I don't consider that a pistol as the ATFE does. I call it a midget rifle. I whacked a few prairie dogs over 150 yards. It wasn't as much fun as its cut out to be.

With serious intentions, 200 meters, at Metallic Silhouette rams. On different occasions I used a:

Colt Single Action Army, .45 Colt / 7 1/2" barrel.

Smith & Wesson model 29, .44 Magnum / 6" barrel.

US Army National Match pistol, .45 ACP / 5" barrel.

Yes, I did hit what I was shooting at. :D

Would you count 3 hits "in the black" at 200 yards, using a Colt 1908 Pocket Model (Hammerless) .380 ACP? :what:

50 yards, my P229 in .40, using my reloads. I one-shotted a pine cone. My best shot to date. It's the reason why I trust my life to this gun over any other I have. The only people who believe the story are the two guys that were there when I did it. They told me "You won't", and we all know that means you absolutely have to.

It felt so good, I KNEW it was going to hit before the shot even went off.

The furthest that I get to regularly shoot pistols is 75(ish) yards. At that distance, I can make headshots on full size silhouette targets about 7 out of 10 times with my Glock 19 and M&P9.

The furthest shot that I have ever made was at 130 yards with the Glock on a milk jug filled with water. A friend and I were having a contest on who could hit it in the fewest shots, I hit it on number 4, he hit his on number 3 :cuss:

Longest full size ram silhouette at 200 yards with a custom scoped Remington XP-100 in 6mm BR. That was off a sand bag, not like the silhouette guys do using only their bodies for support, and no wind.

My best was going 3 for 5 on pepper poppers at 100yds with my p226, I clipped another a fourth didn't knock it down.

The last time we went shooting we were shooting at a 3' tall 2' wide steel plate set up at 130 yards to give some of our new shooters something interesting to do. My friend and I went at it with out pistols just for the fun of it. We both shot standing. He hit about 20 or so out of 4 mags (52 rounds total I think) with a 9mm Sig 229. I hit 29 out of 30 rounds with a Kimber TLE II, .45 acp of course. Overall we were both pretty happy with that. Next time we're thinking of putting an actual target out that far and seeing how accurate we can be at that range.

I have, on occasion, tried 50-100-yard shots with some of my pistols. I could usually get a hit somewhere on the silhouette, most of the time. I did far better with my Colt Python, which had a crisper trigger and more suitable sights with a longer radius, shooting a six-shot group of ~5 inches, from a kneeling position.

Often times I set up clay pidegons on the back stop of our 100yrd range and shoot them with pistol.

Once you figure out your hold overs, it's not that difficult to bust them. I can usually go 8 for 10 on a good day.

120 yards

Shot my first deer with the Thompson Center Contender super 14 at 120 + yards.

That was about 20 years ago,and that was THE best shot.

I had a rest and hit him in the neck and dropped him on the spot.

55 yards with a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag on a spike deer. I usually limit my pistol hunting shots to 50 yards but in this case I had a good rest and lasered him first.

I had 55 gallon drums set at 120 yards and had no problem hitting them with most pistols with 4" + barrels. Took a hog with a heart shot at about 45 - 50 yards, my longest shot hunting with a pistol. With a 6" revolver the drums are cake and shot's I'd consider when hunting double in distance. I got a hog around Okeechobee at 60-65 yards with my 6.5" 610. Jumped, squealed, dropped. I hate when they go running off down there, it's scary tracking them especially with all this python crap going on these days.

Just yesterday I shot my P91, SR9C, LC9 and LCP at an Elk steel target (about white tail deer size in reality) at 330 yrds. To my surprise, the LC9 was the easiest to hit the target with an over 50% hit rate. Only shot the LCP with the 6 rounds in the mag, hit it on the last shot.

There's an old steel barrel at my impromptu range. At 100 yards I can hit it 60 or 70% of the time with my Hi Power. I'm sure that off a rest I could hit it nearly 100% of the time, keeping in mind that a barrel is a pretty big target. What's interesting is that there is no holdover at that range, I just bisect the barrel with the front sight and squeeze.

My brain is on vapor-lock at the moment so the name escapes me, but there's a guy on Youtube who consistently shoots much smaller targets at much longer ranges with a variety of handguns.

Once, at a NH bowling pin match. the course of fire included a single bowling pin sitting on a 3-ft by 3-ft table at 100 yards. I would knock it off the table with one shot very often. My handgun was a Springfield Armory M1911A1 in .45 ACP.

Perhaps you are thinking about hickok45?

Hickok45.

230 yard shoots with everthing from a Glock 27 to 500 S&W.

Great to watch.

265 surveyed meters, hitting a pie-plate-sized metal "gong" on a 4x4 post, with my 6-inch S&W M28 shooting 158 gr gas-checked LRN bullets. I got to where I could hit it on average 9 out of 10 times! BOOM - pause - "claaaang"

Soooo much fun!!!
