What's your "never buy" gun?

I have to agree with those who have stated previously that they're too busy

weeding out possible future quality guns which have real potential to join their

fiscally limited selection, rather than try to ferret out the worst of the

worst.:scrutiny:

1. ANY Glock ( I would rather own a Highpoint)(see #2)
2. Any Highpoint pistol. ( a carbine is a different story)
3. Any gun over $500
4. Any Sat nite special above .22 cal

"People who dream of Glocks, Are having nightmares!"

You forgot to say something bad about my...

Would somebody please make derogatory remarks about the S/S Detonics MkVI, the S/S Bauer .25 Auto, the Browning .40 High Power and the Interarms KG-9 so that ALL the guns that I own are on the “never buy” list?

This thread goes to show that just about any gun can make the list. It would have been more relevant if a gun’s detractor would have be specific about the reasons for his dissatisfaction.

The only gun in my inventory that honestly makes the list is my Saiga 20 gauge shotgun. The only resemblance to the 12 gauge Saiga is the external look. There are some serious design flaws internally that make it unuseable in the event of some fail to feed or extract scenarios.

I generally dislike Glocks because of my preference for steel guns, but I would never part with my Glock 27 - it fills my niche for a large capacity, serious caliber handgun in a very small package. So there you have it - a Glock hater who loves his Glock 27. Go figure.....Doc

I will not buy a Colt product. My experience is that Colt's warranty service consists of "Take in gun. Sit on it for a while, doing nothing. Return to customer. Repeat until customer gives up." (My 1911 Gov't Jammamatic remained a jammamatic after several warranty trips back to Colt's.)

ANY manufacturer can have a problem, but a GOOD manufacturer will make it right.

There are many weapons I would never buy. Some because i don't like them, others for no paticular reason. For example surplus handguns like Webley or Nagant revolvers, TT33 or CZ52 pistols, stuff like that... Surplus SMGs, wood-stocked bolt-actions, shotguns without shoulder stock, shotguns that are NOT a 12 gauge, Springfield XD, Desert Eagle, single shot pistols and rifles, pump-action rifles, double-barrel shotguns, Drilling rifles, .40 caliber pistols, longer than 5" barrel handguns, revolvers in bigger than .44 mag /.45 colt caliber, rifles in wildcat caliber, AK type rifles in .308 and Romanian PSLs, .22 target pistols with these uber ergonomic wood grips, military carbines in calibers other than 5.56, 7.62x 39/51 and 5.45x39, ARs shorter than 10.5" or longer than 20", S&W Sigma, Winchester Super X2, Colt 2000, revolvers other than S&W and Ruger, pistols smaller than Glock 26, engraved, gold or pearl handled weapons, ect. I bet there's some more stuff I wouldn't buy, but this is what I can think of off the top of my head :p

Depends on the price

While there are several I wouldn't buy for "fair market value," if the price were extremely low, anything is fair game. If you purchase at the right price it won't go down in value below your cost (assuming it isn't destroyed in a fire or something) only up - and unless you have limited space in your gun vault, it isn't going to hurt you. For example, I purchased a High-Point 45ACP for $25 once, later sold it for $75; and I still own the Norinco 12GA that I bought for $100 just because it was there.

Given my current post-holiday financial situation, any gun is on the "never-buy" list.

But during more prosperous times I would have to say rubbish guns like Lorcin, Jennings, RG, Raven, etc.

-Any Taurus, based on family and friend experience with these weapons
-Anything that has a "budget" feel. If I want a gun, I'd rather save the money for a good one.
---The exception to that rule is Ruger. I think Ruger manages to be cheap and very well made.
-Though I realize this is not popular, no 9mm. I'd rather go smaller or larger.
-Gold, silver, bejewled, bedazzled guns
-Derringers

I have to say, I don't understand the hate for polymers. Polymers these days are often just as durable (often moreso) than steels/alloys.

My list of what I would NOT buy is much longer than those I would, but a short summary of what I would not buy:

Any handgun by Jennings, Raven, H&R, Rossi, Hi-Point or Springfield. The Springfield will probably surprise many, but I had a bad experience with one, and that is enough.

Anything with bright nickel, chrome or stainless finish or gold plating.

Any "factory custom" 1911, or one that someone else has modified, or has a firing pin block safety. I am particular about my 1911's. Over the years I have come to prefer particular thumb safeties, grip safeties, sights, etc. Give me a mil-spec 1911 and I will have it modified to my tastes (or have one custom made from the frame-up using my preferred parts).

I like jennings / bryco / and the like....

Not saying they are the best but they work fine.

I love it!!! Every gun I own or have owned has been mentioned, and I only had to read about 1% of this 2 year rant!! :cuss:
You guys crack me up.....:)

anything Remington. I own a 512 bolt action 22.... great gun, but the remington guns and ammo i bought recently are garbage.

Totally agree. Mine has got to be the Kahr CW40. Nothing but trouble with this gun. Doesn't like any of the ammo I'm feeding it. Cheap or high dollar, it jams or won't eject with all of it.

A close second is anything made by Taurus.
