Appreciate all your continuing insights on free sharpening, and sharpening in general!
I seem to be amassing a bit of a Wharncliffe collection lately -- so your comment on the relative ease of sharpening is especially appreciated.
I really like Wharncliffe and Sheepsfoot blades. They look cool and do a lot of EDC tasks like opening boxes/packages better with that low tip.
With regard to the sharpening, I’ve still got a ways to go, but hopefully if anyone else is considering giving it a try they’ll see that even a fool such as I was able to make some progress in a not-painful amount of time. I only jacked up a few bevels getting there… I’ll have to throw them on the Wicked Edge or KME when I set one of them up again.
In the spirit of this thread, I have a Spyderco Tasman coming for my wife. It’s a hawkbill with a serrated edge to use in the garden. Never sharpened a hawkbill or recurve before so I’ll be having a new adventure soon.
