I only word it like that because of my father. After seeing "Quigley down under" my dad had to have one of those Shilo Sharps rifles. It was the end all-be all for him. Well, it took over three years and over $2500 but he finally got it. Complete with his initials on the side just like Matthew Quigley's in the movie. It's a really excellent piece of work and I would love to have one.

However, my "Quigley" is the H&K Mark 23 Socom pistol. I want one so bad I can taste it. When I acquire one I will feel like my dad does now.

So, out with it, what's your "Quigley" and why?

...a Remington VS in 308 with a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5 x 20 scope on Leupold dual dovetail rings-I have it and it pretty much hits what I can reasonably see. Still waitin for the horseman to snatch up the bucket and ride down range with it:D

Barrett M82A1.

After Ronnie Barrett stood up to the L.A.P.D., I decided that I will one day own one. It may take ten years, but I'll have it.

I want an original Browning Hi-wall sporter in 45-90 or 38-55 with a Rust Brown finish or any lo-wall in 45 Colt or 357.

Modern Quigley - An M-16, no a1 or a2, no foward assist, just a plain jane m-16, selector switch and all.

Remington Model 7 Youth Stainless Steel Bbl. and action Synthetic Stock with Leupold Dovetail Rings & mounts with a Weaver 3x9 scope. All that in a 260. Woowee!

Pre-'64 Winchester Model 70 .243 Featherweight. It actually belongs to my Dad. I think he paid $75 for it way back when. It's a beautiful rifle.

And can he put his shots in a 2" or 3" circle at 900 yards like Quigley . . . shooting offhand? ;)

Seriously, here in the real world, what kind of accuracy are these rifles capable of?

300 Weatherby Mag with a Nightforce 5.5 to 20 x56 scope. I get 1.75 inch group at 200 yards and 2.5 at 300 yards. "Had" to have it for Elk Hunting in Montana. Nailed my elk at 396 yards as it was moving up the side of a small Mountain. Used my backpack and a rock as a steady rest and a laser range finder for the distance. It's still my Quigley! Can't wait unitl I can try it at 600 yards or more:)

My Pedersoli Sharps'll do that at 100 yards...off shooting sticks. It might do better with a betterer shooter with sharper eyes.

Back to the original question...my current Quigley is a S&W 696 revolver. I love the .44 special round and the size of this package. Passed on one last December and I've been sorry ever since. Oh well, I don't have the cash to buy one now anyway.:banghead:

HankB: Sad to say it will never be shot. As long as he owns it anyway!;)

He bought another Shilo Sharps 45-70 and 45-110 during the wait and shoots them! He made a cabinet to hold the Quigley and a gun belt and sheath like the ones in the movie. That's where it stays.

When I get my Mk23, on the other hand, it will be a shooter!

My pseudoscout rifle - the Coolest Mauser Ever! But the gunsmith is still working on it...and I feel like an obnoxious jerk if I bug him about how close it is to being finished. I want it now! *fidget*

At 900 yards, a good shooter with a good load and mucho practice can ring a buffalo silhouette on a regular basis...a life-sized buff silhouette. No three-inch groups on newspaper classifieds...

My "Quigley" is a HK91.

i'm thinking a browning/winchester low-wall with
1. a tapered octogon barrel - from shilen 1" blank
2. french walnut
3. cheekpiece with "shadow" outline
4. "henry" fore arm
5. engraved metalwork
6. chamber for 6.5x55mm
i'm still working on the engraving design

Well, my quigley was the M1a...after years of dreaming and scheming, she's mine (and when I die, my son's and his son's).

Now Quigley takes the shape of a really fine bolt-ation rifle. Something you would take to Africa -make that Alaska. Don't know what it'll be exactly- something in a big caliber, able to really reach out there.....and tip over big animals .

Fitting that this be my first post! hehe

The gun i've drooled over ever since i knew anything about guns has always been a HK MP5. =)

Good luck on me ever getting one - but its a Quigley right? ;)
