This. Except I carried the 19 for 2 months, not 2 years. I carry my G21 once in a while, whenever I just feel like it, but the 26 is my EDC. It's just a great little gun.

Ha! I have a G21SF as well, which I also carry from time to time...although generally that is open carry, or concealed only when wearing a jacket or coat.

Yep, I do the exact same thing!

Since the weather has cooled off and I wear a coat most of the day my carry has been an M11-A1. When it warms up I will tote either an EMP or a P938. I wont tote a poly striker gizmo. I am an old fashioned metal and SA kind of guy, no matter what the cost, it's less than my safety is worth to me. But I can live with the DA on the first strike on my 226 and M11.

Pretty much a gov't model 1911. It is a VERY easy gun to carry.
I agree. They're flat and compact, but heavy. I carried a full sized 1911 for quite a while, but I'm small and 64 years old and it started getting uncomfortable. I carried a Model 36 and a P380 alternately, depending on dress.

I guess I whined enough though, my wife bought me a Colt Wiley Clapp Commander a few months ago, and I ordered a new DiSantis holster for it, because I know they fit me well. Been carrying that combo every day, all day, for at least six months. I did notice that I'm getting quite a bit of wear where the muzzle sticks out of the holster, but I figure I'm not going to live long enough for this gun to have any collector value, so it doesn't bother me. The lightweight Commander is at least 10 ounces lighter than the steel framed gun, so it's easy to carry.

I still carry the 36 and KelTec when I can't conceal the 1911, but that's not often.

I thought of getting an XD or a Shield, but I'm familiar with the 1911, so I'll stay with it.

While not full size, I carry a glock 19 and two 17rd mags as reloads, for the past two years every day, except for two weeks when I was out of the country. When I had a coat on I would put a 17rd mag in place of the 15. For the past three months I have been carrying a glock 30sf with a 10rd mag in it, with two 13rd mags as reloads. Will start carrying with a 13rd in the pistol if I can find one that does not cost $45.:banghead:

Concealed?

What do you carry the magazines in?

It depends on how I am going to be dressed but more often than not, either a compact Glock or an STI VIP.

Currently I only have 4 firearms that work for carry duty: XD45, P99, SR9C, NAA mini. I can see myself buying a high dollar HK or SIG (~$1000) for carry but never a custom or commemorative pistol.

I daily carry a Glock 27 40 S&W that I paid less than $500 for new I took the extra money I saved by buying a $500 gun vs a $1500 and bought a holster and practice ammo. I NEVER feel outgunned as I can take that $500 gun and point and fire and hit my target everytime and that is with 100% reliabiltity. A bullet doesn't care if its loaded in a $300 gun or a $3000 gun.

I am fairly new to carrying a concealed gun. I have found a 1911 Commander or M&P 9c to be easy to carry depending on the weather. I am working on my cover garments now.

Of course, in Louisiana, open carry is legal, so printing or the wind exposing the gun is not a big legal deal.

I have always been told how easy a Government model 1911 was to carry. Never believed it until I tried it. With a good belt and holster, it is not bad. I like the Commander because it is an alloy receiver, so lower weight.

My ONLY pistol is a modified Rock Island. So guess what I carry. In NC open carry is ok so I can simply holster and go. I clip the holster to a strap inside my riding jacket while riding.

I conceal via shoulder holster if wearing a winter jacket in OH. I find it easy to clip the holster inside my belt too. So I have large waist pants and a belt.

I carry just about every day, either a P7 or a Dan Wesson Cbob.

Both are relatively heavy and somewhat expensive (compared to some plastic guns) but flat and fairly easy to conceal.

Depends...today I was carrying a Sig P938 in a 5-Shot Leather IWB; spare mag in a MagHolder on my weak side. For the past couple of months I was carrying a Ruger LC9, mostly in a Simply Rugged pancake or a Blade-Tech belt holster. Usually carry a second gun, an LCP, in my weak hand pocket; DeSantis pocket holster.

For daily concealed carry, my summer carry is a Dan Wesson Valor (government length) in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II. My winter carry is a HK USP .45 (easier to shoot with thick gloves) in a Milt Sparks 55BN. I have a Glock 26 in a pocket holster as a backup. I have other pistols & revolvers that I carry for special circumstances, but those are primary. I carry a full size pistol every day because I have large hands and that is what I practice with and shoot well. I can shoot smaller pistols like the Glock 26 adequately, but in a stressful situation, I know can handle a full size pistol more competently and comfortably.

The guy who is wearing a 5 inch springfield armory trp operator works with me at a gun store and he does carry it everyday, as well as a 17 with an RMR on it. Totally doable.

The only gun I carry is a S&W "tactical" mod. 4553... .45 acp, (dao). Its a single stack, aluminum frame, with a stainless slide. I carry it in an IWB holster every day. I think it would compare to a commander size Colt.

The belt and holster make it work.

This really is my daily carry pistol, a full size CZ SP-01 Phantom.

This is the holster and belt I use to carry it concealed, a High Noon Down Under with straps and a High Noon Rock Steady gun belt. Shown with summer carry short CZ-75 16 round magazine.

This pistol is really on me as a type this, and will be tomorrow, too.

Am I wrong? Are most people's CCW's full size guns? What is your daily CCW?
I don't know about most people, but it isn't unusual for folks to carry full sized guns.

Bear in mind that "Full Sized" has changed a lot over the years. When I started. a 5" 1911 was full sized and a 4.25" Commander was a compact. Nowadays, many people consider a Glock G17 or S&W M&P (both just over 4" barrels) as full sized.

When I was younger (slimmer) I often carried a Colt 1911, SIG 226, or Beretta 92/96 as my off-duty gun...the latter two are a bit harder than the first. It was just a matter of having a good belt and a good holster. I also used to CCW a 4" Colt Python...but not in my pocket.

When I traveled to teach, rather than bring two guns on a plane, I'd just bring a SIG 220ST and CCW it when off the range.

It is important to not scrimp on a holster. Is $150 too much when you've just spent $700-$1000 on a gun?

I can't imagine having a $800-1500 gun and throwing it in and out of a holster daily.
I think the last 1911 carried concealed was worth more than twice your upper limit. I also shot it in a IDPA match, so I'm dragging it in and out of both leather and kydex holsters as well as banging it into things.

You should carry, whichever gun you shoot the best. I don't think you'll hear too many people say, "Maybe I don't need a gun that is too accurate today", when selecting which gun to CCW

My ccw is a Glock 19 Gen 4, every day. It rides in a Galco King Tuk at 3:30-4:00, on a BladeTech Looper belt. On rare occasions, I roll with it OWB in a DeSantis Speed Scabbard, concealed under a jacket.

Wife and both CC Model 85 Bersa .380 13+1 pistols. They are all steel and a little heavy, but small enough to make for easy CC.

I carry a Kimber on duty as a cop that was bought as a commemerative/unit purchase pistol from a deployment. I have changed out sights, and had a set up custom grips made that have my qualification badges inlaid into them. It's not a Wilson, but it is every bit of $12-1300.

I take it out of my duty belt, and put it into a Galco hybrid leather/kydex IWB holster when I go home. I use the same set-up on my time off.

So yes, I do carry a big, expensive gun concealed every day.
