Lead Downrange Memorial Day Weekend
A friend and I went to the range Sunday and put a fair amount of lead down range, 30 rounds 30-06, 150 rounds 223, 150 rounds 40 S&W, 50 rounds 9mm, 200 rounds 22lr, 40 rounds 22 magnum. 50 rounds of 17 HMR. All the centerfire with the exception of 9mm were all my reloads. My reloads are getting better all the time, made real progress with the 223 and accuracy running them through 223 Ruger mod.77 mark 2 with 26 inch bull barrel. Also have the 30-06 round just like I want for deer season coming up, 150 grain Hornady Interlock. The 223 through the Ruger are grouping at an inch and a half at 200 yards, may do better with less wind. We were at a range in Florida and dealing with the winds associated with the tropical depression, the winds buffeted the 17 HMR enough that the best group was an inch and a half at 100 yards, the 17 HMR was bull barreled Marlin that will repeatedly group at one half inch at 100 with these old eyes. Bottom line had a lot of fun, I personally would love to spend every day at the range but that is a bit impractical!! I just hope everybody had a great weekend!! Most of all I want to thank each and every man and woman in the military past or present for MY FREEDOM and ABILITY to OWN AND FIRE these weapons, THESE MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN and THEIR FAMILIES have PAID FOR MY RIGHTS TO ENJOY THIS PASTIME!!!!
