Q: why do you have so many guns?

A: why does your garbage can normally have 8 or 9 empty bottles of jack daniels, absolut, etc in it every garbage day?
A: why do you eat fast food non stop?
A: why do you give all your money to a church so it can use it to protect pedophiles in the church system?

why do you have so many guns?

I personaly don't know that many people who are against guns. Anybody that has asked that question in the past gets a civil answer.

I own guns because I have a right and the freedom(purchased through the sacrifice of brave men and women who fought and died) to own them. I could ask why you have so many _______? Your answer could be mine.

Remember any answer you give paints a picture for the person asking. Don't give them a reason to think your a gun wacko. Just my .02 worth.

Please stop with the leading questions, this has been asked and answered a hundred times, use the search feature as the same half dozen questions are asked every 6-8 weeks like clockwork. I would refrain from answering questions such as this, and anything that starts with, "what would you do", or "what if", "have you ever pulled you gun out", "did you ever fire your weapon", these are "fishing expeditions", not necessarily this one I don't know who posted it, but it's a good way to get to "state of mind", in a trial or pending case. Also gives fuel to the Dems, so they can say look these people have an agenda, take away thier right to bare certain firearms, Just think about it before you put it out there for eternity, thanks

I am like many others here in that I don't advertise to people I don't know that I have guns. If it does come up, I usually get the "How many guns do you have?" question. My usual response to that is "More than I need but less than I want!"
That usually ends the discussion right there. If they persist, I tell them it is none of their business how many guns I own, period!
If I get the "Why do you have/need guns?" question, my standard response is "Because I can!" Occasionally, I will go into further detail about why I own guns, it depends on who's asking.

Because it is better then me being down at the Bar boozing all night, driving home drunk then beating the crap out of the wife and kids.
Or sometimes I look at them appalled and say " You mean to say you do not own any firearms?"

And...if the one posing the questions is still hangin' in there after that...I cap it off with:

"You do understand that the notion of need-based justification for ownership is Socialist/Communist ideology...Right?"

Oh, that's good, and true. I'm going to use that one next time, it sounds better to me than what I usually reply with "I don't recall seeing the word NEED in the US Constitution!"

I don't.....yet.
I like that one, too.

The only people who know I have any guns are people who know me well and I know them well, outside of forums such as this that are pro gun. I have no problems talking with people I don't know well about guns, but specifics of types, amounts, etc, are not generally part of the conversation. They may ask "why do you need a gun?" which gets different response than "all those guns" which is asking why anyone would "need" more then one. Two different issues, with only the second ever being an issue for me.
