bought a brick of American eagles 22 at sportmans they haD rem gold 525 for $22, cci 375 for $27 the American eagles for $25 . got them home before I notice that the brick is now 400 rounds instead of 500. would have paid the $2 more for the cci. o well teach me to look before buying from now on. also first time I have seen the 38 gr bullet in the 22 caliber.

Who's old enough to remember when the candy companies went on about how in spite of ballooning sugar prices they kept the price of their candy bars the same (but didn't tell us the bars were about 20% shrunken)?

This was bound to happen to ammo marketing.

Nice to see normalizing of prices....

Here's to hoping all scalpers get stuck with ammo they will have to sell at a loss.

Anyway, my definition of a brick has been 10 boxes usually boxes of fifty, or 5 boxes of 100. Yes, the American Eagle I remember buying was boxes of 40; it was prized by folks I knew in Scott Co. VA for being more reliable compared to bulk pack bargain ammo. From previous experience I would expect a brick (carton of 10 boxes) to be 400 AE.

And for .22 LR, depending on brand, hollowpoints run 36gr to 38gr depending on how deep they make the point, and I expect only solids to be 40gr.

I suspect they really mean we're going to use the larger box for all product because it's less trouble (usually breakfact cereal).

The majority of .22LR hollow points will be 38grain bullets, just as the majority of .22LR solid points will be 40grain.

Heck, I remember when a box of premium handgun ammo was for 50 rounds, and not 20 or 25 for more money!! And 00 Buckshot was sold in 25 round boxes.

I still remember when a kid could hardly eat all of a .05 cent Snicker bar at one setting.
Now?
They are bite size and cost a buck!

It's just a sign of the times my friend.

Buyer beware, read the fine print, and all that good stuff.

Well, a "brick" used to be 1 box of 10 boxes of 50, for 500 rounds.

Now they have "boxes" of loose rounds, and they can be anywhere from 325 to 525 (550?).

I don't call them bricks, I call them boxes. YMMV. :)

I'm old enough to remember when shotgun slugs came 25 to a box.....over the years price stayed the same and the boxes got smaller. Some day .22 rimfire rounds will be dispensed from old gum ball & peanut machines.....

I always thought the 500/525/525 rounds of 22lr are the bricks, and the 300/325/333 boxes are just "boxes" or "mini-bricks".

Either way if you can find them locally at normal places I'd take any of them. I also bought a can of Federal Automatch 325rds at Dicks for $20. That was a new one for me because I've never seen them in a round can with a lid.

A bottle of sippin' whiskey used to be a quart, now it's uh, fifth, er 750 sumpthin....it's a lot smaller. Dog food used to be 50 pounds too. I wish they would standardize the bricks back to 500 just so us old dudes don't get confused.

Me.

I'm getting sick and tired of product shrinkage. And the genius CEOs who get beaucoup bonuses for doing it.

Ammo, facial tissues, candy bars.... oh, and toilet paper.

It's been shrunk once already ("Oh, but we're only being environmentally responsible look at all the trees we'll save!")

I noticed the other day in a McWendyKing's that the rolls were even smaller than the ones you buy at the supermarket.

This keeps up they'll be selling rolls of string for toilet paper. Tear off a length and hold both ends and kind of saw it across your bottom.

No wisecracks because I focused on toilet paper, please. It just something that's close to my mind.

Oh, wait that didn't come out right....

Maybe I'd better not sign this one.

All the AE Hp's I've bought in the past ten years at least have been 400 to a "brick"

I bought a case of SK Pistol match 2 months ago for just a little less than $700 including sales tax.

I am very happy and astonished that I can buy such a quality product for around .14 per round.

I had 12,000 rounds of 714 (poor accuracy, 4in groups at 100 yards).
I bought the 714 just before our dictators first election for less then $20 per brick. Made me wonder how it could be manufactured at such an incredible low price...

Wish I could find any CCI for less than $25/100. It's all my 1911/22 likes and I'm not paying $.25/rd for .22LR...
I saw CCI mini mags at a LGS Saturday for $11.99/100 and thought that was bending the customer over, I passed.
