In my case, like jad0110, it didn't hit me while I was in the heat, but the third night after three days of too much heat.
Even though I wasn't thirsty I was badly dehydrated to.
To correct my original post, it was heat exhaustion, not heat stroke. Seemingly subtle, but important difference. My experience was made worse by inadequate sleep as well as low sodium and potassium levels.
Guess what though, it just happened to me again. Litterally hours after I made my last freakin' post.
I live an in area that was hit by that
hurricane Irene. Working in the heat cleaning up, I thought I was keeping up with my water. I got mild heat illness, but I also got friggin Salmonela from tainted food
. Both hit at about the same time.
Heat illness and Salmonela don't mix. I went to the Dr and my BP was 78/46, due to extreme dehydration. I passed out while I was there. I'm doing better now, but there isn't a worse feeling than fainting when you already feel like crap.
Question for the guys that got heat stroke.
Did the doctors caution you that you will be more susceptible to heat stroke in the future?
They did tell me that. So far, from my own experience, heat doesn't bother me as much as long as I stay hydrated, but I am more sensitive to heat if I don't keep up with my water intake.
With this latest experience, looks like I probably won't get out to do any shooting until after September.
