Not to pick nits, but - to be fair, these online sales places are not charging sales tax.Unfortunately most places now charge state sales tax for online orders...
They are collecting sales tax.
The difference is real. State Legislatures charge sales tax. Retail outlets merely collect it, usually for a small cut of the take.
Amazon started all this, by negotiating with various States (including Oklahoma), offering to collect the tax in exchange for a larger-than-usual cut.
Then SCOTUS sold us out, stating that a physical nexus was not necessary for the State to claim taxes. This flew in the face of hundreds of years of established law and precedent.
