When would you stop resisting?

Um...

I would resist until they kill me.

Then...

I would come back as a zombie (black magic is an integral part of my SHTF plan) and resist until they destroyed my brain.

Then...

I would come back as a gun-grabbing liberal (brain destroyed, remember) and disarm them. Then my wife would probably finish them off with any of my varied collection of California-legal (and therefore gun-grabbing liberal approved) weapons while I did yoga or joined PETA or sat in a tree or tie-dyed my underwear or something else equally useful and beneficial to society.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'd stop resisting when they stop giving me a reason to resist.

Just try and figure out which parts of that were sarcastic. I dare you.
:)

obviously the part about the brain dead zombie coming back as a gun grabbing liberal...that's the sarcastic part...no self-respecting zombie would come back as a liberal...

I wouldn't stop resisting. I carry while I am at home. I would fight til I had completely neutralized the threat or I was unable to carry on. If a person forces their way into your home, they intend to kill you or cause you grave harm.

No order to get out, no warning, no threat to fire on them if they don't leave . . . just deadly force designed to protect me and my household if a person has forcibly or surreptiously entered my home.

All of my home defense guns have laser sights. I hope that will be the last light a burglar sees if I am in our home when its attacked.

Why would anyone, ever, stop resisting?

To stop resisting is to give up...your life possibly...probably.

Don't ever give up...don't ever stop resisting.

This goes for everything in life.

We cannot give up our resistance to the massive push to socialism that's taking place right now by the federal government. We need to push our states to pass sovereignty legislation...gun bills...ways to opt out of the health care crap that's coming...etc.

We are the resistance and we need to do everything we can to get back to the free republic we started with.

Sorry....didn't mean to get carried away.

Now, while we're all still worked up over the question, let me interject a note of caution: Remember that the tenets of safe gun handling still apply, even when you think some homicidal meth addict has invaded your home. The primary principle you need to keep in mind is to positively identify your target before you pull the trigger. Unfortunately, it has happened too often that a spouse, a teenage son, or some friend of the family has been shot by a homeowner who was surprised by the sound of a door opening at 2:00 a.m.

Disciplined self-defense is the name of the game.

first warning, door closed (when it opens alarm chirps 4 LOUD chirps if unarmed)
second is door locked
third (if they are lucky) rem 870 pump action slamming oped/closed....
if i dont have time to get to the 870 then in the nightstand is a glock 23 or 357 mag, depending on what i carried that day.

i have a 25 foot hall way to get down to the bedrooms, i also have a dog and a 9 y/o son so said hallway is loaded with boobie traps (trucks and other toys) so lead will fly in that direction in a hurry.......

oh, um the original question.... hmmmm stop resisting, what does that mean???

I wish I were obscenely rich, so rich that lawsuits didn't bother me. I'd start an "insurance company" but only insure those households that had a 1:1 gun/resident ratio, or better. To lower your premiums, you could take practical shooting classes. Any IDPA competitor would get rock bottom premiums. I'd also pay out a few thousand bucks for each dirtbag you killed, maybe make it a sliding scale... if they've been arrested before, you get $500 for each crime that they've committed.

I'd name my company "EFF YOU SHUMER Insurance, LLC"
That's a pretty good idea, about the insurance company. You should also be giving out stickers for people to put on their doors and windows (kind of like alarm companies do - "protected by ...", but in your case it'll be "insured by F U insurance"). I bet after the first couple of months you won't have to pay out any more claims :)

"When I'm dead"...

Nah, when they die, are incapacitated, or run out the door.

My home is quite secure, anyone attempting to even gain accsess to my property whould find themselves in a world of hurt. For starters,I own 15 dogs;12 large schnuazers(which are very intemprate) 1 blue rott and 2 very large Saints'. They roam my property freely(its compleatly fenced in,and I have beware of dog signs every 50ft) and if by some miracle you made it past the dogs and without waking me,(good luck!) you'd be facein' not only my shotgun from one direction;but my wife with her Mini-14 from another.
Anyone tryin' to rob me whould be makin' the biggest and quite possably the last mistake of their lives. And as for "wrongful death civil suits",go ahead; I've got great insurence and an even better lawyer.

Basic stuff here guys, and most got it right.

Cross the threshhold of my house, with negative intent- pay the stupid tax.

No cooperation, no negotiations. Lessons learned. Be prepared, have a layered defense, train and think about what you would do.

As Mas Ayoub said "Cause of death was a failure of the victem selection process"

I will resist with every fiber of my being, guns, fist, knives, desk, door, whatever. To destroy my family and I's sense of safety, and to bring fear into our lives, I will resist until I am dead and cold, and hopefully the robbers would trip over my recently dead body and break their necks in their fall as my family runs away to safety. Then I would haunt them.

If the bad guy is down,...I stop shooting and start lifesaving measures.

Why?

Why not leave that to police response and EMT?

Whatever lifesaving knowledge you have will only be used against you in court if the BG you shot dies or becomes injured somehow through your "after combat" actions.

And, IF the BG is resuscitated by you, he/she may start their assault again.

I'm not saying that you should take additional measures to make them dead, but I wouldn't let a BG close-enough to touch me.

To give me something to do with my hands until the first responders get there, of course.:p

In the Army, we have people trained to give immediate battlefield aid -- not medics, but riflemen. We have learned that the first moments after a wound may be the difference between life and death.

And no matter what my attacker has done, he's still human.

hors de combat

Not being a commonly-used term in the American vernacular, that makes it sound like you're referring to your shot assailant as "lunch"...

Whatever lifesaving knowledge you have will only be used against you in court if the BG you shot dies or becomes injured somehow through your "after combat" actions.

Sadly, that's probably true.

I'm not saying that you should take additional measures to make them dead, but I wouldn't let a BG close-enough to touch me.

I was an EMT in the semi-old days. Gloves, masks etc. were for wimps, and Code 3 was a good way to get to the front of the lunch line at the drive thru.

I'm glad I didn't get HIV, drug-resistant staph, viral meningitis, etc.

Older, wiser, and full of paranoid information overload about diseases as well as lawsuits, I think I'd avoid touching anyone, especially someone from the criminal underworld.

I can understand your feelings.

Just make sure that any BGs you ventilate don't have enough energy to get back into the fight.
