When you go belly up

I really won't care. I'll be dead. In reality, I'll give them away before I die. If I die unexpectedly, my son will know what to do.

Well, while it's a little too early for me to be "concrete" about this, what I can say is:

My nephew is likely to get at least an MBR and accessories. Probably a couple real useful "edged implements."

My daughter will get a couple handguns, and I've already given her a Savage M340 .222 Remington. She'll also get my Winchester 9422. Maybe my Savage M10FP-LE1. A lot depends on what direction her life takes, but she's of very good character at age 17. She just might get a certain US pattern MBR and accessories. If she marries just right, she could likely get a whole bunch of toys. She'll likely get most of my knives.

My favorite and like-minded neighbor will get an MBR and accessories, and a centerfire semiauto handgun and accessories. He'll likely get a couple real good field knives.

My son-in-law will get a good rifle, probably bolt action. Possibly an MBR and kit instead.

Out of the total inventory, the wife will get what we agree that she wants/can actually use. I do not want any of my weapons ever sold, would prefer that they become heirlooms. She's most likely going to get a .22 rifle, .22 semiauto handgun, 12 gauge, appropriate quality centerfire semi handgun, and a bolt action rifle of manageable recoil. Some of the above people may need to wait until she passes her inventory on, preferably following my wishes.

The couple of C&R's are tbd.

Time will tell where the rest, and the C&R's go.

Lord, what a pile to divide up. All of the above folks should go home happy, though. A lot does depend on what the next several years bring...-FNR.

If I die, I'm going to have my as many of my guns and as much ammo that fits burried with me in an air-tight coffin. That way, if they ever ban all the guns, and SHTF, you can all come rob my grave and arm yourselves... see I THINK OUTSIDE THE PINE BOX :neener:

Onmilo:
They're mine.
I'm keeping them.
I'm taking them with me.
It's in my will,,,,,,,,
Hey, if I did that, they'd have to construct a really, really big oversize coffin,,,,,,,,

Geez. I love commas,,,,,,,,

I don't really have any close relatives or a significant other to leave any of my arms to. Since many of my firearms are historical in nature(Garands and Enfields and Mosins and Mausers and such) I'll try to find various museums for them to go to, so that they'll hopefully be around to educate future generations. If I get married/have children my non-historical firearms would go to them(and some of the historical ones may as well).

My only concern is that my wife will sell them for what I said I paid.....
:D :D :D

Thanks for the snicker, Steelhead!

When I was 13, I told my dad that someday I wanted to own his old (He bought it used in the early sixties.) Winchester 88 .308. He looked at me, got up from the sofa, and walked into my bedroom where his guns were kept on an old gun rack. When he returned, he hand the model 88 in one hand and His Winchester Model 12 in the other hand. He smiled and handed me the Model 88 and handed my brother the Model 12. Those were the only two guns he owned. I know my brother got the better firearm in terms of value and collectability, but I am forever thrilled with my old Winshester Model 88. I still hunt with it. My brother is equally thrilled as well.

As for my dad, he spent the next five or six years hunting with borrowed guns (We were really poor.). Finally when I was in college, my brother and I went together to buy him a $75 Stevens 12 gauge from a pawnshop (Iknow, we were big spenders. ) We even had to rig up a wooden plug to limmit shell capacity to legal standards. Oddly enough, he really loved that Stevens and killed a lot of ducks and geese with it. He stopped shooting it because it was not rated for steel shot.

Anyway, I guess Dad's idea was to give 'em to us while he could watch us enjoy them. Recently he sent me another shotgun. It took him a little while to get more and better guns, but I think he wants to once again give them to my brother, my nephew, and I while he can watch us enjoy them again.

He is an amazing father! The next time I buy him a gun it will be better than an old Stevens.

C&R's are tbd.

Okay, I am going to feel really stupid, but what is a MBR?

I know what a C&R's are, but what is meant by tbd?

Good one! He will be like the Tutankamen(sp?) of the gun world! If you kick the bucket soon and two days after you are interred, your casket is illegally exhumed, please tell your family not to look at my house. ;) Your arsenal will not be there...I promise...really...Okay maybe it would be best if you tell your family not to inform us of the burial location until the SHTF.:( Anyway, thanks for the laugh.

I don't have anyone to leave my hardware to. My wife and I don't have kids and don't want any. She certainly doesn't want the guns after it's toe tag time for me.

My only hope is that my sister-in-law's next child will be a boy and maybe he will take an interest in shooting.

To most a MBR is their main rifle. Often a 30 caliber to most folks. (308, 30 06, 7.62, etc. For me the 5.56 also qualify. Some folks call their shotgun their MBR. (MBS?) I feel its the first choice for long arm for you.
I had a women want to (dispose) of her hubby's rifles, shotguns, pistol. She told me to name a fair price and she would trust me. (I had dated her once 5 yrs before she got married) I instead (trying to be fair) Told her to take them to local gun shop and ask them what they would give her for them. Then tell them she would have to check with her friend. I would pay whatever they offered her for them and likely more.
Well they offered her chicken feed. Less then 30% of value but (somehow) talked her into selling them. :( I never owned a M1 Carbine. :(
