When you go shooting with friends, what do you like to bring?

I like to take a variety... .22 Ruger pistol,38/357,9MM,.45Colt/454. This gives new/potential shooters an oportunity to experience first hand what others have talked about. It sometimes draws other more experienced shooters/owners to the bench to jaw and sometimes offer their guns to be fondled;)

How do you bring it to the range?

I've noticed that several of you bring a large number of guns. I usually carry my guns and ammo in a large shoulder carry canvas tool bag (lots of pockets for ammo, speed loaders, ear plugs, marking pen, etc.). With three guns and plenty of ammo, thats my limit. How do you guys do it? (Unfortunately, I'm not built like Ahhhhrnold).

how do I get the goods to the range ?? lucky I guess . I pack all the pistols in the range bag with hearing/eye protection, the staple gun and tape and pasters are also in there so are the spare staples.. the rifles ride in the tool box behind the cab (P/U truck ) . now since our range is on private property we ( all the freinds and I ) ussually drive up to the range then back in drop the tailgates or open the trunks and lay out blankets and picinic baskets... hold on here getting off track . :D we do lay the weapon selection out on the blankets on the tailgates and put the ammo out there also . we like to keep the guns out of the cases untill we are done . when we had a CSO show up because of the whiney Chicago transient neighbor ,it worked out to our advantage as he saw all the weapons unloaded so he said something to the fact we must know gun saftey .. as for loading and unloading the vehicles its a multitrip effort.

Lately I've been taking my H&K SL8-1, a Glock 19 and a boat load of ammo; both .223 Remington (usually Wallyworld value pack or military surplus) as well as a few hundreds rounds of 9mm. I also like to take at least a dozen loaded Glock mags, a few SL8-1 mags, my Oakleys, some sorta' beverage and a handful of disposable ear plugs.

Every now and then I'll take my Ruger 10/22, a couple of full-caps, and a brick of cheap (ie Wallyworld) .22lr ammo instead of my H&K. But, this is becoming less and less the norm. ;)

Allways my CCW 9 x 18 MAKAROV
and my SAR 1 (I just can't get enough of it)
.22's for friends that are inexperienced

Oh yea my dad has a really old really heavy 12 gauge that kicks like a mule. I love to let rookies try this thing out.

Nothing like the look on the face of someone who just got the crap kicked out of their shoulder for the first time.:D

Had a buddy one time come home from service used to shooting M16's and nothing else. Guy asked for it acting all cocky. Nice humbling experience his face was pricelesss.

Just because she doesn't look like much doesn't mean she don't pack a whalloop!

Jedi, I similarly have an old 12 pump that my dad used to carry in the car when he was a police officer...its an old High Standard "riot" 12 guage....It aint that heavy, and has a really short barrel...feels like getting hit by a truck when you shoot 00 buck through it...I love to let the newbies try that one...It always startles them, and they always want to shoot it more more more!

Depends on the friends and at which range we're doing our shooting. The only one that comes along almost 100% of the time is my 22/45. I don't often find myself with more than 2 or 3 pistols along. The ones that get the most range time (in order) are my 22/45, Para 16-40, S&W 586 and Para 14-45. I have several others but these pistol account for 90% or more of my yearly round count.

Tman

I have my own range so hauling whatever I wnat is a non-issue.

Load up the pickup. Back pickup up next to bench. Shoot.

Private Property is a wonderful thing. Public land is the next best thing.

If they are newbies, browning buckmark to get them used to shooting. Regardless either my luger or my broomhandle.

The two usual suspects are my CZ-75 and my SKS because both rate very high on the fun, ease of use and reliability factors. As a matter of fact, these see a lot of range use anyway, just for my own private fun.

Another pair of crowd pleasers, albiet more costly to shoot, are my customized Sistema 1911 and M1 Garand.

Smoke: This shooting stuff is getting expensive

First I'm drooling over some of the stuff ya'all are bringing to the range, now I have to buy 500 acres of land to have my own private range!!!!!! Darn, this is getting expensive. ;)

My range sits on less than 5 acres. Ok I own considerable more that surrounds the 5 but no rounds are leaving range proper.

Shooting can get expensive, but its a long term investment. I don't go to public ranges other than the local skeet/trap club. SO I don't know what the "normal" charge is, but a little land to do whatever you want and not have to follow some other guys rules is priceless.

What do you like to bring?
Twoblink: "Girls." :D

My new Beretta .22 conversion.

If I'm with my gun friends I'll bring whatever they want. "Bring your .45s" or "bring your P7", etc.
