Since when does the Buckmark feed .22 mags?

If I had to rely on a .22, then maybe the 30-round KelTek.
No one said the Buckmark uses .22WMR. Read the post.

I would carry a Kel Tec PMR 30 if I had one. 30 rounds would likely be overkill for most defensive situations but would be very nice to know you have it without having to change mags. It is also a .22 mag and not a rimfire so... a little more punch.

If you are capable and confident that you can make a good head shot every time then a .22 LR is more than enough to shut a human down. My only problem with this concept is that fact that rimfire ammo will be factory loaded ammo and it has too high a rate of failures to fire (duds) in my experience. Every single box of rimfire ammo I have ever bought for many years has at least a couple of duds in it. Every brand. If the priming compound in the rim has one small spot with no compound and Murphy decides that is where the firing pin will strike you'll get a click. Remove the round and rotate it in the chamber a few degrees and it will usually fire. For self defense use this is unacceptable IMO.

...and modern 22 defensive ammo are good enough to handle hairy situations...
Wow, just when I was finally getting my head wrapped around the fact that 9mm is as good as .45 and now I learn all I really need is a .22. :p

With the longish barrel, it probably hits as hard as my NAA .22 mag black widow. However, I only carry that gun when I have to be REAL discrete. If I can hide a Buckmark, my 3" K frame .357 magnum is not a problem, or my Ruger P90, or whatever.

The secret to shooting any firearm well is practice. I shoot my choices as well as I shoot my Ruger Mk 2, maybe not as fast for follow ups, but then, I don't need follow ups quite as fast as I would with a .22, I'm figurin'. :D

But, to each his own. I ain't gonna tell that guy what to carry any quicker than I'm going to take HIS advice on carrying a .22.

That's not my experience. Sure have had a few, but not in ever box I bought. In fact, I've shot over 10K rounds of CCI Blazers and have yet to have a bad on in those.

There was a time that I owned only two handguns. One was an Old Model Ruger Blackhawk .357 with a 6 1/2 inch barrel,..and the other was an H&R Model 929, 9 shot .22LR with a 2 1/2 inch barrel. I would have liked better, but I never felt undergunned with either if I needed to carry them,..

Concealed carry has come to be this for me. A weapon that can easily be concealed for self defense purposes. If it is a gun I want one that I can shot accurately and I can conceal.

Shoot someone in the head with a .22 and they will stop.

Actually, there have been cases of people being shot in the head and bullet lodging in their brain without even being aware of it. I think it silly to go through the hassles and liabilities associated with carrying a gun and carry a .22.

Would you want to be shot by it?

This cliched response is not the question. The question is "Would being shot by this stop you from killing me if you were armed and inclined to do so?"

He'll know whether or not he took the right decision should the time ever come when he had to call upon his sidearm.

It really isn't that much different than some people who rag on other for only carrying Insert least favorite caliber ie:.380, 9mm etcI use to get lots of crap for my EDC being a Sig P232 in .380. Then one night at the club during concealed carry shoot, I drew from concealment, and placed 3 shot in the head of a standard silhouette target at 7 yards in 2.57 sec. After that, I got a lot less crap. It isn't so much about what you use as how well you use it. After all, what is the old saying: Police use a .40; Soldiers us a 9; Pros use a .22

I'll be the one to go ahead and say it.

Lots of idiots out there.

Shoot someone in the head with a .22 and they will stop.
Yeah, shoot someone in the head with a .22 and he will probably stop...sooner or later. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow. Will he kill you before he lies down and dies? Maybe.

Do you want to play those odds...or more importantly, those stakes?

It is also a .22 mag and not a rimfire

What I want to know is since when is this statement correct?:D

As far as I know a 22 Magnum is indeed still a rimfire, a more powerful rimfire than a 22 Long Rifle granted, but, still a rimfire none the less, AFAIK, the 25 ACP is the smallest centerfire pistol round currently manufactured unless (quite possibly) there is something I've not heard of. ETA: Sorry I didn't read much of the thread before posting, therefore I didn't realise that anyone had caught this yet!

I'm going to use enough gun to have a high probability of quickly killing a 150 to 300 lb dangerous animal who is likely on drugs, booze, deranged, or enraged.

Everyone gets to pick the caliber they want to use for this game. Personally I don't use a .22 LR on anything larger than squirrels...and I've seen plenty of them keep on running after being hit with them.

To each their own...good or bad we all get to live with our choices.
